I've looked at all the answers to date and the most important one is missing. That is to make an appointment to see your doctor ASAP. This is especially important if you still have your cough after 10 days. The MD should be able to tell you if you have developed nronchitis, a post-nasal drip, pneumonia, irritated membranes in the nasal-throat areas, etc.

Follow this Steps,and by the grace of God you will get better:-
1. Avoid Cold thing,not even liqiud but anything cold.
2. Don't sleep or rest with or near the fan or air conditioner on high speed.
3. Wear Cloth that are tick not layers of cloths maybe just a sweater,so you won't be hot.
4. Try and take a very hot tea when taking ur tablets or in the morning and in the night.
5. Don't bath with cold water,maybe mix the water with hot water.
6. Always take the tablet you where ask to take.
7. Don't stop taking your tablets,ontill they are finished.(even if the cough have stoped.
8. Try and chill yourself close to the fire or any thing hot.
9. Make sure you dont take any tablet or medicine that is not priscribed by a doctor.
10. If the cough stop,avoid stay too close to someone that have cough(am not saying you should discriminate but advice the person to do the rite thing and always close his or her mouth when coughing).

Coughs can sometimes last for weeks.
Suck a sweet or pastille. It happens when the catarrh falls into the back of the throat. Keep some water or orange juice by the bed in one of the sport top bottle (so it doesn't spill)
Try a gargle of vinegar to dispel some of the germs.
I am not much of a believer in cough mixture to be honest. Honey and Lemon would work as good. (home made)

Any cough persisting more than a week,should be evaluated by a physician. Here are a few simple home remedies that will help to overcome cough. I had a similar cough last year, in the end I went to the doctors and I was prescribe with some antibiotics. After a week and nearly losing my voice, the cough eventually cleared up!

It's the same here too, here is the best advice i can give you
follow these 3 easy steps;
1.Dont drink cold liquids (stick to hot things)
2.Dress up in lots of layers of clothing and
3.Take BECHAMS ALL IN ONE before you go to bed, a couple of doses could clear your cough

vitamin c helps cure and relieve coughs. This is found in Oranges & Lemons. Try squeezing a fresh orange, or a lemon.
