Water, Lentils, Celery, Tomato Paste, Spinach, Soybean Oil, Contains Less than 1% of: Salt, Onion Powder, Modified Corn Starch, Tocopherol Acid, Citric Acid, Ascorbyl Palmitate (Preservative), Tocopherol (Preservative), Natural Flavor.

Those are the ingredients from Progresso's Lentil Soup, 15.25-Ounce Microwavable Bowls

My question would be: lentil soup is so easy to make why would you not make your own.

dice: Onions, Carrots, Celery, & Potatoes... crush a few cloves of garlic...

sautee: Onions, Carrots, Celery & Garlic

Cook: Lentils in water... adding the potatoes & Onions, Carrots, Celery & Garlic... [I frequently add tomato paste, or crushed tomatos]

Salt & spice to taste.... I use ground pepper, thyme, basil, oregano... and other spices depending on my "mood" that day.

You can throw in the spinach at the end

Let's hope the manufacturer knows! Try the sites below to ask them. Good luck.

My opinion based on the ingredient list is that it is at least 99.9% vegetarian, and the tenth of a percent falls under the category of those signs you see: "This product made in a facility that also uses peanuts (soy, or whatever allergic item you care to name)."

In other words (IOW), the ingredients themselves are vegetarian, but there might be a possibility something non-vegetarian came in contact in the manufacturing process.

So to avoid lawsuits such as the one against McDonalds for using a non-veg. flavoring in their vegetarian cooking oil, the term vegetarian is not on the label.

If there are any meat products or broth in the soup it will be listed in the ingredients by law.

I haven't had it in a long time, but I'm pretty sure it is unless they changed the recipe.
