It kills the bacteria...all the bacteria, good and bad. Good bacteria protects you from things like yeast and other fungal infections, so using antibacterial soap can leave you more prone to a fungal infection, or antibiotic resistant infection.

Yes, it does kill bacteria. The good and bad bacteria on your skin. But here's the issue... using antibacterial soap increases the amount of antibacterial resistant bacteria in the environment (where do you think treated sewage water goes? Into the ocean!) and also on your skin. You're better off using regular soap, it eliminates or minimize bad bacteria, and it's better for the environment.

Antibacterial soaps kill bacteria. They do not kill viruses though.
