Depends to some extent on the CCB taken.

The plasma half-life of amlodipine is as long as 36 hours, while that of nitrendipine is 10 hours.

Interestingly while some drugs are absorbed into the bloodstream within minutes or hours they sometimes take days - even weeks to have effect.

The antidepressants are a great example of this being in the blood in 20 minutes but taking up to 2 or 3 weeks to have effect.

How long it takes for CCB's to start 'working' as opposed to being available, sorry, I have been unable to find. A good question though !

It takes effect within a couple hours of taking it.
