Well that all depends on the patients other underlying factors such as diabetes,asthma,etc...My dad did not make it home.

Do you mean surviving the surgery ? going home ?
Living another 10 ? 20 ? 30 years ? Those depend on lifestyle changes of risk factors. My mother had bypass surgery at 70, and is now 86.
A friend's father had it recommended 20 years ago, but did not do it, and lived another 20 years.
I know an 88 year old who had it 25 years ago. He is the age group top performer indoors, on the Concept 2 rowing machine, either nationally or internationally.

Yahoo has several groups on bypass surgery. Look for groups thave cab in them
I had a 7 way bypass in Dec.05 an 1 stent in Dec.06.

Survival rate after by-pass surgery is no more than 90%. My doctoer told me with modern medication the by-pass surgery has become like extracting a tooth.
