Actually, you really oughtta avoid spermicide. It's an irritant, and many people are mildly-to-moderately allergic to it. Moreover, it can make you MORE SUSCEPTIBLE to contracting infections. A study in Africa showed that women using spermicide were more likely to get HIV than women not using spermicide. Spermicide irritates the vaginal lining and can cause microscopic tears in the tissue.
Any latex condom that does its job perfectly (that is, traps sperm without leaking) doesn't need spermicide at all. Once you trap the sperm, you don't need to kill it 'cause they're not going anywhere into your body.
You're better off buying a regular-lubed condom and supplementing with water-based lube like Astroglide.

Any condom you buy in the US has to pass rigorous tests. From the people I've talked to (hundreds if not thousands of college students), Trojan is a favorite.
HOWEVER, spermicide on condoms is a complete joke. There isn't enough of Nonoxynl-9 (the spermacide they use) to do anything to semen. Its simply to make the consumer feel better about the sex they're having. You could add spermicidal foam or jelly in addition to using a condom, but a lot of women have bad reactions to N-9. It can really irritate the vagina and disrupt the pH balance which would make the woman more suceptible to infection.
