A tickly cough for a couple of weeks can be many things. I will only discuss the most possible.
1. Allergies: Buy over the counter Claritin and take 10 mg a day.(With allergies, you usually have itchy eyes, runny nose, sneezing, and no fever.)
2. Bronchitis: Most are viral, and an antibiotic will not help, only prevent a secondary infection from developing. Robitussin CF is a good OTC for the cough.
3. Are you on any other medications?
A blood pressure medication called an "Ace Inhibitor," could be the cause. Most Ace inhibitors end their generic name with the letters "il." Example, Benzapril, Enalapril, Lisinopril, etc. An Ace cough feels as if someone is touching the back of your throat with a feather, or something. It us usually worse at night, and have a non-productive cough. If you are on one of these medications, you will have to see your primary care physician, and let him decide if this is the cause, and if it is, he will change it to another medication for you.
I can not advise you to take anything without a complete history and physical exam. The above is only some suggestions. I am not licensed to practice medicine outside of my state, and in no way does the above constitute any sort of medical treatment, only some suggestions as to what it could possibly be.
If you should get worse, or continue to cough, seek medical care urgently!

Try Mucinex D. You have to ask for it at the pharmacy because in most states they keep it behind the counter. This is what I use when I get a tickly cough that won't go away.
As for home remedies....I don't think there are any that will actually work.

Assuming that you have no medical conditions that need to be looked into or checked before taking this: Try Robitussin Cold & Cough OTC. It has really helped me with a dry cough I've had.
