White, Tan and Yellow or Orange!!!

Yes, Corn and Carrots are yellow and orange, but they are still pure sugar. I cannot even have one of the baby corns in a salad or any shreds of carrot.

Tan includes all cereals.

Best to check your own bod for response to these foods.

Check glucose level, eat a food like a banana, check the glucose again at about 90 minutes later. I don't want my glucose level spiking more than to 150. Your doctor may have another number like 180 or something.

Journal everything!! meds, glucose readings, foods, exercise, mental condition, everything. I use a steno pad for daily journaling. or there is a website that helps a bit, but it is slow as molasses in January: http://nutrimaps.com Must become a member but it lets you imput a lot of info and tells you all the nutrients in your foods too.

Although you should not eat vast quantities of things like rice, bread and such "white" things, all foods have a proper place in a diabetic diet. It is a matter of balance, rather than eliminating any one certain food or foods. And the fastest way to shoot yourself in the dietary foot is to tell yourself a food is forbidden. You end up feeling deprived, and beat yourself up when you indulge. Actually, complex starches are the most beneficial way to obtain your carbohydrates, because they burn longer and don't spike blood sugar. It's sugar you have to watch out for- stuff in the sugar bowl, plus the corn syrup stuff in other foods, especially preprepared foods. If you are confused about how to arrange a diet that meets your needs and takes into account your particular food preferences, get with a certified dietician. It's better to design a diet you can follow and will follow that an ideal diet you can't or won't.

Yes, that's the general recommendation..... "brown is best" re bread, rice, potatoes (use yams instead).
It's not just white- everyone reacts differently to foods. I can't eat even half a banana without a huge spike in bs, but I can eat watermelon. You could be the opposite. Dieticians can only give you recommendations- you have to test, test, test to figure out the specifics.

Fish, chicken, flour, eggs whites...
Fish generally is good by the way.
Op for brown rice, whole grain breads and try other type of potatoes like sweet potatoes, yam, japanese potato, those small little potatoes...

Sugar is also white. Stay away from anything artificial and go with whole grains, including fresh fruits and vegetables.
