Hi Samantha.

You must weigh below 110 lbs. You must be above 110 lbs. in order to donate blood.

When you donate blood, they remove a pint of it, which is not too much for the average person. All they need are a few cookies & some OJ, and they are good as new. It does not take long for the body to replace the lost blood.

However, if you weigh less than 110 lbs., you will have less blood to spare; and a pint of blood will be a lot more taken out of you. You could end up very dizzy, pass out or, in the worst case scenario, develop acute anemia.

That's why children cannot donate blood; and that's why petite adults cannot donate either.

Maybe you can make a small financial donation to the Red Cross or some other charity. There are many ways that you can help people.

It's nice that you wanted to donate your blood; you must be a kind person.

Take care.
