If the woman has genital herpes and the man gives her oral sex, then it is possible for him to contract the virus. He could develop cold sores (oral herpes).

Herpes can be spread from the mouth to the genital area and vice versa through oral sex.

So, if someone has a cold sore and gives a person oral sex it's possible for the person "receiving" to develop genital herpes.

And, if a person has genital herpes and a person gives them oral sex, then the person "giving" can develop cold sores.

Herpes simplex virus 1 and herpes simplex virus 2 are BOTH responsible for BOTH cold sores and genital herpes. Typically cold sores are caused by herpes simplex virus 1, while genital herpes are typically caused by herpes simplex virus 2.

Condoms and dental dams can HELP prevent spreading herpes, but unfortunately condoms and dental dams are not 100% effective. The only thing that is 100% effective is abstience. Good luck and take care!

From what I was informed by my doctor, plus a few other doctors - along with doctors from medhelp; yes, there is a small risk of transmission of herpes, especially HSV-1 (oral herpes). While many people state that condoms and dental dams will stop transmission, this isn't always the case seeing herpes is a form of skin-to-skin contact infection. It isn't in the fluids, but skin itself. You are more infectious when you have ACTIVE sores either in/around the mouth or in/around the gential. However, many state you can still get herpes due to asymptomatic people who never show signs of a herpes outbreak.
Again, it is a small risk of transmission. Oral sex is considered low risk activity YET there is still a risk.

Below I have linked you to a STD Risk Chart, you might find it helpful.

Yes she can. Herpes is spread through skin to skin contact and even if you use a condom its still possible and likely. Many times I see men come in with the sores on their lips or inside the mouth. If you have an STD its better not to have any kind of intercourse, the same with the other way around.
