My doc has advised me to take an iron supplement of 18mg. I could only find 27mg at the pharmacy. Is it ok to take the iron with my 5mg Glipizde 30-40 mins. prior to my lunch? Or, should I wait to take it right before eating lunch? Also, I understand that there could be intestinal side affects. What would help with this? Thanks

I'd just call your Md and see if there is an iron pill of that dose that you didn't find. It would be a lot safer and you'd be more sure that you are safe.

I don't believe they interact with each other. If you are worried, just separate the dose by 2 hours.

Ask the Pharmacist.........they know more then some Doctors....
and Iron can constipate you...and it can be hard on the bowel......so be careful and limit it accordingly !!!
