I have had many chest xrays in the past but wondering it shows the ribs too?

Chest x-rays show the ribs in high detail, with fainter images of cartilage and ligaments holding the ribs together, heart, lungs, stomach, esophagus, and any abnormal growths that are large enough to cause greater contrast than the organs.

A chest X-Ray can show the things you said above, but also can show signs of tuberculosis, sarcoidosis, and other lung disease.
