What do you mean "if"? The Iraq invasion is a disaster. America is widely viewed as dishonest, incompetent and an abuser of human rights, thousands of innocent Iraqis have been murdered by the US military, the US is using torture, and the military is stuck in a war that is increasingly unpopular at home. The US should withdraw immediately and stop killing civilians.

From a UK point of view, I'm surprised Bush isn't being impeached and removed from power like Nixon was (although Nixon resigned).
Iraq was based on WMD's which never existed.

Not too many for Dubya, he's only got to get through another year. Got to feel for whoever follows him though. Nixon managed to avoid a lot of cr*p over Vietnam because LBJ started it...wonder if the next president will be able to pull off the same trick?

The only thing keeping the US President from claiming victory is that it would give ammunition to the left wing liberal loonies for face time on TV, to rant about him being wrong.

Hard to say. Every Democrat thought Reagan was crazy standing up to the Soviet Union back in the day. He is not up for re election, so I don't think anything will happen.

His party could lose the election and his legacy could be damaged. Unless the insurgents take over the US it is unlikely that he faces physical danger.
