OK, I didn't get much sleep last night, and I thought this said "talking pork". Been a while since I read CS Lewis, but I think the idea is NOT to eat the talking animals...
The religious laws against eating pork were more realistic than they were exercizes in obedience. Before proper cooking methods, pork was dangerous to eat. Worms and diseases would have been more prevalent in pork than in other meats, for various reasons.
I have no idea about eating meat being 'evil'. I know that there are some PETA folks who think so, but I like a good steak every now and again, thank you.

Pork is no more or less evil than any other meat.
If you eat meat ,then an animal has to die.
several religions have banned their followers from eating Pork, claiming the animal is unclean,dirty eats its own ****.etc
The simple answer is Pork goes off in hot climates and therefore has a higher risk of coursing food poisoning.
Sensible advice became corrupted by religious dogma.

The God Yahweh is telling us that the pig and all other land animals that have a simple stomach digestive system are all equally unhealthy to eat as a food product for all modern humans. God also is telling us that all land animals that fall in the classification of having both a even split hoof for feet and have a four chamber stomach digestive system are the most healthiest animals to eat as food for the modern human.

Taking any kind of meat is not evil. That is just pure silliness to believe it is.
If there was nothing else around but pork to eat, what would you do? Starve....Methinks not.
