For 900 sq feet what's the cost to have the floor's finished.
Also, how can we get rid the smell from the cats of the previous owners, they had eight. Is it possible?

assuming you have solid hardwood and there is enought wood left to have them finished i would guess between 1,000 and 2,500 dollars depending on the shape they are in and the type of wood.

Resand the entire house. For the spots that are darker due to urine, use hydrogen peroxide to lighten the spots. Thats the only thing I have found that actually works for lightening the spots. As for the actual smell, the new poly urithane coating will really have a powerful smell for several weeks so you shouldnt notice that smell on the floor. If you dont have experience sanding and refinsihing floors, pay a pro before you gouge and pit the surface of the floor.

Without seeing the job, I'd guess around 3 K, that's from a pro. the pee stained boards should be replaced with the same type of wood you have now. Depending on how extensive the staining is, the price could vary. The entire surface should be refinished. Sanding your own floors is a dicey proposition, i recommend letting a hardwood guy do the job. good luck. *************26 yrs. in floor business.

it depends on the condition of the floors, but usually $2 to $3 per sq ft. ($1800-2700) it's not too difficult to do it yourself, probably for about 1/3 of the cost.

cat smell from 8 cats?! good luck!

Couple of different things you can do. If you are changing the flooring, replace everything underneath as well. Laminate wood flooring is beautiful and practical as well. It is less costly and generally has warranties (20 yrs, i believe) As far as the cats, lots of airing out the home, even if its cold. Place fabric sheets in your air filter, and inside of your air/heat vents. Wiping down the walls, with warm soapy water, helps remove old odors as well. Candles will help to cover, but cleaning thoroughly will really help with odors.
