I just moved into my place & haven't quite picked out the "feel" of how I want the space to look. I have our (mine & husbands) bed & the kids beds, a kitchen table & nothing else. We moved over 600 miles & sold or gave away all of our funiture (very old). Anyway, with the holidays coming & friends & family guaranteed to stop by I need furniture quick! I don't have alot to drop on a complete makeover & I refuse to use the plastic so close to Christmas. How about those rental furniture places? They seem like such traps. You end up paying double the price of the furniture. Should I just get a livingroom set for the holidays & send it back?

Make sure if you do go to a Rent to own store, tell them you want ALL NEW pieces. Also, if you plan to keep it try to pay it off in 90 days. That way you are getting the best possible deal. Otherwise, you will pay double even triple for the pieces.
Best of Luck

I've used rent-a-center and colortime. It is a horrible way to get your furniture because you really do pay way too much. But some of the places offer a deal to pay off the furniture within 3 months and they will nix the interest. Which turns out to be a GREAT deal if you can pay it off before the 3 months are up. Otherwise, I would rent the furniture for the holidays and then return it. Don't put yourself through the thousands of extra dollars you'll have to pay through a full term.
I think rent-a-center offered the 3-month deal, but that was years ago..

Rental furniture places can be a quick fix when you want it NOW and don't have the available cash.
Look for one that offers 60 or 90 day same as cash plans. You make regular weekly or monthly payments during that time frame but at the end of the 60 or 90 days you have the option of paying the loan off at a really discounted rate. They apply your payments to the balance and it usually ends up being about half of what the total would be if you paid on it weekly for the entire time of the rental agreement.

Just for holidays that might be good if they do that.
Maybe you could find some nice used furniture. Probably a lot of people getting new for the Holidays.
At least you could keep it until you could afford better.

If you are going to rent-to-own, go with Aaron's.
