prepare the walls sand them if necessary to remove old paper, lumps etc
sand any loose paint from walls
fill any plaster holes
if wall has not been papered before size the walls prior to papering or apply 1 coat of paste as a size
when pasting use less water than recommended on the paste box as this gives a stronger glue
paste edges of paper twice
allow paper to soak in the paste for about 10 mins before hanging
wipe off excess paste from paper surface when still wet
use a good brush about 8 inches long to smooth the paper and remove air bubles some people use a soft cloth.
hang from the top down the way
butt join the paper unless an over lap is actually called for
when dry go over the edges with more paste as you are bound to miss some.
i apply the paste to the edges with a table knife slide under the edge
sounds like a lot but once you get going it all comes together
spend loads of time preparing the walls thats what counts the most if the wall is lumpy or rough so will be the finished job
good luck with your papering
