It sounds a bit like a spider bite. If you'd been hit by a scorpion, you'd KNOW it. Cane spiders are a variety of brown spider, but not nearly as venomous as a brown recluse. Chances are that you will get a small "pit" in the center of the red area. I don't ordinarily advocate scratching something open, but if you can stand to do it, then wash and clean it thoroughly and open it; put some Neosporin on it (the ointment, NOT the cream), and keep a bandaid over it. It may scab over a few times with a sort of semi-clear yellowish scab; you may have to remove THAT few times until you actually get to healthy tissue, which will bleed. Once you've gotten to that (and it may take a few days), pack it once again with Neosporin, and it should start to heal. Each time you remove one of the yellowish scabs, be sure you have cleaned around the area thoroughly first; the last thing you want is for this to be infected.

It takes time, but they DO heal eventually. It may leaves a small scar and possibly a slight indentation.

If by any chance the area starts to really expand, or become necrotic (dead), then get to your doctor as soon as possible.

I would say that it is a spider bite-probably a brown recluse with the explanation of the bruise. She needs to see a doctor-recluse bites will eat away the flesh surrounding the bite and leave a nasty infection. If she goes now, they should be able to stop it from getting any worse. I will warn that if that is what it is, then there is a pretty painful process of getting the infection out. This includes incising the wound and "scraping" it with large Q-Tips. It is necessary though.

I'm not sure what it is. Could be a number of things. Try to put a warm rag on it. The swelling will go down and hopefully it stops hurting. This works for me.

Good Luck

If there is a ring around it get to the Dr immediately it might be Lyme disease from a tick. Other than that I can't guess but it sounds like you need help from a medical professional.

This may be the beginning of a boil.

Shingles is also a possibility ... I hope not for your sake!

If you are in Australia or Africa you may want to think about tick-bite and get yourself to a clinic/doctor quick smart.

It could be a number of things. Are you sure it's a bite? It might even be an ingrown hair, like you said, or a pimple. You can see a dermatologist.

dunno. it's probably just a spider bite & not a big deal. but get it looked at if it gets worse. sometimes certain bites you can have a reaction to & end up with a real nasty infection that is really hard to get rid of. i've seen it on discovery health where they were jsut spider bites & people ended up getting amputated limbs. for real! so keep your eye on it & if it gets nasty then go to the dr.
