Winterball's coming up, and I want to ask him. I don't know if he likes me or not (I have no reason to think he does, and no reason to think he doesn't!) If I asked, it would just be my way of letting him know I'm interested. The problem is, when we were discussing another dance with some friends, he said dances weren't really his thing.
If I already know that, should I bother asking him anyway, just to let him know I like him? If he says no, how do I react?

Be honest with him. Tell him who you REALLY are and want you want. If he doesn't agree with it, then just think no relationship is better than bad relationship. And there would be penity of men out in the world

The key to success in this situation is confidence. Don't be afraid of the outcome, it's good that you let it all out and that you've tried your best. I know you're probably a strong and pretty girl, so if you like this girl, just ask him. Even though he doesn't like dances, you do. And I'm sure if he likes you and then there's no way he would mind going to the dance with you.
So take a breath, ask him and if he says no, than move on. Become friends and who knows? Maybe later you two will discover something you guys never realized. I hope all goes well and good luck.

Ask him out for a burger or something first. If he goes, then you can ask him to the ball. That way, if he really hates dances, but likes you, he won't feel like he's going to mess things up with you, by refusing the dance (and he may even go just to be with you) because he's shown his interest by accepting a date already.
And if he's not interested in you at all, he'll refuse the date and you'll have your answer.

Well, maybe he has changed his mind. However, I would not ask him. You could drop hints but don't expect too much. Just bring up the subject yourself, and say, "Dick and Jane are going to the Winterball..... wish I were." and if he doesn't take the hint, then move on to another subject.

I say when you are unsure about a guy ~ask his friends. Maybe he's just said that they weren't his thing because no one has asked him yet?
Ask him about the other day.
&&& always have other guys in mind so if things don't work out your coverd okay ;)

Isn't this what you want to know anyway?
