PS3 games produced are on Hd 50gig blueray (more space for better graphics without sacrificing game levels and game size..) GTA4 developers even stated that the game will have better graphics and gaming on the ps3 version and are having issues with the 360 version because of 8gig dvd game format... They may have to make the 360 version on multiple disc so if you like getting out of your chair alot while playing, .....

360-elite games produced on dual layered 8gig dvds
game developers are finding the 360 format to limiting and finding that they have to sacrifice game graphics or gaming levels and challenges...Bungie the makers of HALO series have parted the exclusive ways with Microsoft and are now developing games that are multiplatform...

Ps3 499 and xbox 360 399or elite for $479---THe Ps3 for the extra $20 you get a full HD entertainment system that also surfs the internet. You can goto any website and watch or download videos like YouTube...You can access your email and print it etcc...

Ps3 Blueray hd movie player that also upscales regular dvds movies to HD...It also upscales ps2 games to hd..

Ps3 comes with rechargeable controllers...

Ps3 comes with free online play and Wifi

All of the above the 360-elite can't do.
360 and elite -For hd movies you have to buy the hddvd player for $200. For

360 elite for quick charge kit you have to buy it for $20.

To play online the 360 charges $50 a year

360 elite no interent browser

Ps3 hdmi 1.3 (supports deep color)
360-elite- 1.2 doesn't support deepcolor 1.3

Ps3 Nvidia RSX GPU Graphics at least two years ahead of it's time. And programmers aren't even close to using it's full potential yet.
360-elite is hardware locked into outdated DX9 graphics-Game programmers are developoing for DX10 (full 4d and 3d motion realism)

THe ps3 8cell broadband processors. CPU-Designed specifically for highspeed calculations (Games Capable of more AI charactors )

Xbox 360 -Elite-- The New 65NM CHip....Isn't any different then what they used in the 360 core except it cost less to produce....

Ps3 you can buy any external usb harddrive and hook it up loaded with music videos , etc...You can buy any brand 2.5 ata harddrive and upgrade the harddrive size for ps3...

THe elite and 360 requires Microsoft harddrives only- for a 20gig it's $100, for the 120 it's $189

360 -elite for wifi you have to pay an additional $100 and online gaming is $50 a year...And for that $50 a year to play online you also get stuck with third party in menu advertising...

To use 60% of what the 360 and elite can do you have to buy the addons and you'll spend over $750 before you even insert a game.

THe elite and new 360s hdmi, 65nm, red ring of death--Microsoft has no Idea what the cause is, You can't fix what you can't find. Game producer are even finding that the engines that Micorsofts provides them to develope games on are getting the Red ring of death and it is not caused by just the hardware engineering flaws. They are seriously frustrated and that is one reason Bungie the maker of the Halo series has left their exclusive contract with microsoft and is now developing games for other systems. Microsoft still owns Halo though. So yes all the 360s even the new ones are all vulnerable.

THe 360 sales numbers are game producer driven by three titles HALO, bioshock ( rumored to be multiplatform soon and availble to the pc now) and Gears of war (available to the PC now)...If it wasn't for those titles many gamers wouldn't tolerate the limitations and engineering flaws of the 360

Get the ps3 you can use it for so much more. We own all three. THe wii, elite and ps3... The ps3 will take you into the next two generations of game consoles... The 360 will have to be re deigned or another generation produced by 2009

Graphics - PS3 has some games that have better graphics, due to extended production time, but Xbox 360 dominates most games in graphics (bearing in mind that these are not much graphical differences, so it won't matter much), the PS3 all in all, has more graphics power than the 360 which may prove vital later down the line.

Games - Xbox 360 has tonnes of games to go along with, but it has been said that they are too similiar, only dipping their hands into the 'shooter' genre, whilst PS3 does not have many games, but they are over a wide rane of genres. Since Xbox 360 has over a year's production time more than PS3, the games will be much more but PS3 may dominate.

Online play - The 360 has a much more vast environment for online play than the PS3. But while you have to pay monthly, it is a split decision.

Media - The 360 can be connected up to Windows Media Center, it can interact with it to send music, videos, pictures, and even MSN can be used. The 360 wired controllers are compatible with PC. 360 cannot use Blu-ray, but can rival it with HD-DVD. PS3 can support up to 7 wireless controllers, support Blu-ray DVDs, CDs, images, PSP.

System issues - Now, heres for the not so good part, it is reported that between 25% - 33% of all Xbox 360's bought have shown the RROD, this is a serious dent in the 360 market. Due to the design of the Xbox 360, there has been an increased risk in the system being rendered unusable. Nyko intercooler fans have been introduced onto the market, which really shows up the 360. Overheating issues, disc scratching issues, disc read errors have also been reported, with Microsoft either turning their backs, or giving a helping hand, either though there is a high number of unsatisfied customers. On the other hand, the PS3 has only a few problems, none of which are as severe as the 360's, still making it playable. But caring for your systems will reduce the risk of failure and malfunction.

Price - PS3 ranges from £299.99 to £379.99, since the price reduction which was now been widespread. In America, the equivalent of those values will be ranging from $399.99 to $499.99. The Xbox 360 ranges from £189.99 - £300.00 in England, and $219.99 - $449.99
. In reality, the Playstation 3 may cost more as a single payment, but overtime, if you are one of the more 'unfortunate ones' to buy the 360, you will pay less, but repair costs, add-ons etc may cost you even more. If you really care for your 360, I can guarantee, that it will last you a very long time unless you are 'less fortunate', Make sure to give the 360 at least 6 inches of ventilation space and it will last a whole lot longer.

If there are any errors in my answer, please don't insult me, but just correct me in a comment or another alternative, thank you.

The PS3 plays full 1080p hi-definition wheras the Xbox just upscales the image. The internet gaming is free for the PS3 so over 5 years that's £200/$270 saved compared to Xbox live. If you like online play there's Warhawk and Unreal Tournament 3 is coming out. Also the Playstation Network has Little Big Planet and Home coming to it.

Blu-ray discs mean that more can be stored on PS3 games allowing them to be bigger. An Xbox DVD holds about 8GB but a single layer Blu-ray disc holds 25GB and a dual layer holds 50GB yet a 360 game costs the same as a PS3 game. Grand Theft Auto 4 may have to be put on multiple discs for the 360 because they're smaller and you might not like having to get up to change the disc. The PS3 is a very cheap Blu-ray player while you have to buy a £120/$200 add-on to play HD-DVD movies.

The PS3 has been out a year less than the 360 and it's graphics are already equalling or bettering those on the 360. As the developers become better at developing games for the PS3 the gap will only widen. As far as games go most of the better games for the Xbox are either multi-platform or going to come out for the PC at some point like Gears of War and Halo 1 & 2 already have. The PS3 has Uncharted, Killzone 2, Haze, MGS4, Final Fantasy XIII, Ratchet and Clank, and God of War 3 as well as the multi-platform titles like Call of Duty 4. Finally the PS3 has much better hardware than the Xbox which has massive 30% failure rate.

The Xbox's strengths are that it's cheaper (but I don't think it is in the long run) and Xbox live is probably better (but you have to pay).

The original Xbox only had a lifespan of 4 years and with the 360's problems it may only last another 2-3. The PS2 had a lifespan of 6 years and the PS3 is planned to last 7-10 years. All PS3 controllers are rechargeable, you just connect them to the USB port to charge, but you have to buy a rechargeable battery pack if you don't want to use AA batteries for the 360 pad. The PS3 is the most value for money as all models have a hard drive, a HDMI port, and Wi-fi built in but for the 360 you have to pay more in some way or another for these features.

I think your personal preference for the games on each system should be what you base your decision on but I'd go for a PS3.

If you insist on watching Blue Ray movies, there is no way around the PS3.
However, be warned, that Sony is just working on a new Blue Ray format that tightens the copy restrictions and will probably not work on PS3s, as new features like "Picture in Picture" streams are not compatible with current players.

As for clear pictures: if Blue Ray is just an alternative, you can either use HD DVDs with the Xbox 360 and its HD DVD drive, or you can download High Definition movies onto your PC and stream them to the Xbox 360 without the need to get an additional HD DVD drive or Blue Ray stuff.

I have all 3 of the next gen consoles and while i love them all they are very different.

The PS3 has been a little bit of a slow starter, it has a small range of games at the moment but does hold future release like Metal Gear 4 and FF13 in its exclusives list (for the moment). Its the most expensive of the 3 and so are its games. For online function i feel it has more potential than it is currently using and so I would hold out for more info on that. I started playing mine on an ordinary tv and then switched to a full HD and the graphics are fanatastic though I would recommend a HDTV for the full benefit it still looks spectacular without it. You also have the added advantage of a blu ray dvd player though if your not a big movie fan is it worth the price jump? There are alot of options avaliable in size of harddrives and cost but be aware not all PS3's are backwards compatible so you may not be able to play older playstation games, something to keep in mind if you have alot you play regularly.

The xbox 360 my choice, is middling in its price, comes complete with a dvd player and cd player and is the best online console in my opinion. I mean your 15 and it has such a wide range of games as well as exclusives that you would love. You can easily and cheapliy play online versus the world on many games as well as download demos and games (some cost some free) provided you have an ok broadband connection. My only issue with it would be the unreliablity of the console with regards to breakdwns that really pulls the console down when you have to send it away for repairs...

If you want the blu ray player already there to watch blu ray dvds go for the ps3 but my personal choice would be the 360.

The PS3 that costs $400 does everything the upgrade model does except for PS1 games and PS games backwards compatibility. I would buy the more expensive one. It costs $500. The PS3 plays CDs, DVDs, and Blu Ray.

XBOX 360 plays HD DVD but you have to pay extra for the player which is around $180. XBOX 360s still get the red rings of death. I've been researching this system very thoroughly. XBOX 360 isn't as reliable in terms of quality compared to the PS3 and Wii. If you want a system now just get the PS3. It's better to buy the XBOX 360 in 2008 when Microsoft refines the hardware etc... check out www.youtube.com and type in "red rings of death".

WEll if movies are the thing that you will be doing most then get the PS3 because of the built in blue ray drive(the XBOX needs and extra drive to play HDDVD), but if you are in to gaming then it is just up to you to decide which games you like best and then choose that system. for example, if you like halo then get the XBOX but if resistance is more fun for you then get the PS3-dont forget to test both systems out to see which one you like better before buying one!!!!!!!!!

This is my cut and paste answer. The reason for that is because a tech info is a tech info, you can't beat it (sources below).

PS3 will win the console war, no doubt. Xbox 360 and Wii are so weak from technological point of view, that in couple of years they won't be capable of dealing with serious graphics. GTA IV, for instance, isn't even announced for Wii - this toy won't be able to cope with the game's requirements. Xbox 360 is getting GTA IV, however, the game is going to be released on several DVDs - Xbox 360 owners will have to interrupt gaming process and switch discs (Rockstar complained about this issue). Only PS3 will have it on single BD-DVD.

Let's compare PS3 and XBOX 360:

A third of XBOX 360 (33%) are malfunctioning right from the start. PS3 return rate is only around 0.2%. Despite some people say, that new 360 has no breakdown issues - just visit Xbox section of Yahoo answers and see for yourself an amount of complaints.

PS3 has 8 (7+1) kernels in Cell processor, Xbox 360 -only 3.
PS3 uses advanced tech called Blu-Ray, one disc can store up to 54 gb (in the future - up to 200 gb), Xbox 360 - regular dual layer DVD-9 (8.5GB). It's possible to get HD-DVD (max. - 30GB) for 360, but it'll cost you around 180$, in this case Xbox is going to be MUCH more expensive, than PS3.
Calculations per sec - PS3 - 51-billion-dot-product-operati... per second
Xbox 360 - 33.6-billion-dot-product-opera... per second
PS3 has full media support - USBs, built-in 4 slots card reader (except 20GB and 40GB versions), ability to use printer and so on.
Xbox 360 has USBs and only 2 memory slots.
PS3 supports up to 7 Bluetooth Controllers
Xbox 360 - up to 4 Controllers
PS3 - wi-fi included (except 20 gb version)
Xbox 360 - wi-fi will cost you around 100 $

Graphics are stronger in PS3, due to RSX chip, that was developed by Nvidia exclusively for PS3. RSX runs on 550 Mhz. It's difficult to compare their graphics chips, because 360 has a video chip with totally different structure and operating memory is divided differently in both consoles. However, PS3 exclusives look better than 360's exclusives.

PS3 uses technology from AGEIA company. It does to physics of the game same thing GPU (videocard processor) does to graphics. This thing is on sale for PC(special card). The price is around 350$. There is no such thing in 360.

Xbox 360 is widely known for so-called "red ring of death" problem - it gets overheated easily. My PS3 was running for more than 15 hours non-stop with no problems. Sometimes Xbox 360 becomes so overheated, that thermopaste on CPU melts, drips on motherboard and successfully shortcircuits it. That's why in some countries people call Xbox 360 "Coffin 360".

Besides all of this, I've seen disassembled Xbox 360 - regular PC architecture - Billy Gates is an uninventive nerd (as usual).
When I saw disassembled PS3 - it was a surprise - smart architecture, good cooling (don't buy external PS3 coolers - they make everything worse - original system is good), etc.

In 2008 PS3 will get more than 300 games, including Metal Gear Solid 4, The Agent and other great exclusives. Here is the good link to the future PS3 releases. http://ps3.ign.com/index/release.html......

PS3 online is free, Xbox 360 - you have to pay.

There were reports, that 360 scratches discs. No reports on that in PS3.

The funniest thing, that right now there are no games for PS3, that show full potential of the console. Biggest games weigh only 25 GB (Xbox 360 will need more than 3 discs even for those).

On PS3 you can install other OS, such as Linux Yellow Dog, Ubuntu and others. Sony officially lets you do it. There is no such thing in 360.

PS3 HDD can be replaced easily with any 2.5" SATA 5400 RPM HDD (used in laptops). 250 GB will cost you around 170$. In 360 you have to buy exclusive HDD, where 20GB will cost you 100$.

Sony expects PS3 to stay on the market for, at least, 7-10 years. Also Sony reduces price now. There is a cheaper 40GB version of PS3.

Sony constantly upgrades PS3 software (free updates for OS) - you get new functions and improvements.

PS3 controller (sixaxis) has a motion control - you move controller - game responds. Wii has it, Xbox 360 - doesn't. PS3 is getting rumble controller (Dualshock 3) in 1st quarter 2008, Japan gets it in this November.

On PS3 you can help sick people by running Folding Home project. Wii and Xbox 360 didn't even think about it.

New 40GB is 399$ or 399 euro (depends on the region) - it has no backwards compatibility with PS2 games, has 2 USBs instead of 4, no built-in card reader, but it's the same PS3, strong, reliable, less noisy, different cooling system. The price is friendly.

I didn't mention Wii, because it's so weak, no point to talk about it. Leave it for kindergarten and casual games.

I have both and barely use the PS3. Get the Xbox360, you will like getting achievements and playing games like Halo 3. HD is here to stay. Some Xbox360's come with the HD cable some don't.
