No, they just disagree with you. They may be the type of people that think Christians are bigoted, which is funny, because giving thumbs-down for answers which are OPINIONS is a form of bigotry.
Just let it roll off your back. It's not a big deal. It's not like thumbs-down actually count against you. It annoys me sometimes, but I just figure that whoever does stuff like that is REALLY insecure about their own beliefs.

No, nor do I hate it when Christians or whoever else give my answers a thumbs down. It's often just to show disagreement. The site rules even state as much. It's not saying, "I hate you" or even, "you're completely wrong"... it might just be saying, "not the way I would have put that" or, "I disagree." Anyway... who cares? Do you really get upset over that? And I see you've tacked on the old, "Why are you even here" garbage. Christian votes affect policy. Christian morals do not offer equality. They subjugate women and marginalize the gay community. They spend tax money (in the U.S.) on faith-based initiatives, and yet they themselves are tax exempt. And that's just the beginning. Of course some of us want to say something about that. And many of us don't do it publicly. Some of us could lose our jobs, or our friends. So we want a voice. Is that hard to understand?

I get quite a few "thumbs down" in R&S, too, and I've learned to ignore it. Those of us who know the truth about God's love will experience it eternally. Being a born-again Christian (best decision I ever made), I'm just now learning about the Bible and what it actually means....so I personally appreciate all of your Bible quotes.
I'm sure I'll get "thumbs down" for this answer, and I really don't care. The only "thumbs ups" and "thumbs downs" I'm concerned about are God's! :)

I did not gave you a thumbs down ..... but then when a person ask "What is the greatest thing about your religion that you truly and proudly treasure?" I think it is for you to answer and not to put down passage from a book.

people around here generally thumbs down answers they don't agree with. Or long Bible quotations. When people ask 'what is your religion?' a majority of the thumbs downs on atheists are probably christians, and vice versa. They seem to be pitted against each other the most.

yeah sorry, but you get alot of thumbs down in R&S - people are quite opinionated
If I could suggest spacing out your sentences when you want to write long answers (never a good idea if you can avoid it).
It makes it easier to read and that just might help people to view your answer more favourably :o)

There are a LOT of folks here that do NOT agree with anything that comes from the Bible. Period.
But they are without excuse.
In Romans 1:18-24 we read:
For God's [holy] wrath and indignation are revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who in their wickedness repress and hinder the truth and make it inoperative. For that which is known about God is evident to them and made plain in their inner consciousness, because God [Himself] has shown it to them. For ever since the creation of the world His invisible nature and attributes, that is, His eternal power and divinity, have been made intelligible and clearly discernible in and through the things that have been made (His handiworks). So [men] are without excuse [altogether without any defense or justification], because when they knew and recognized Him as God, they did not honor and glorify Him as God or give Him thanks. But instead they became futile and godless in their thinking [with vain imaginings, foolish reasoning, and stupid speculations] and their senseless minds were darkened. Claiming to be wise, they became fools [professing to be smart, they made simpletons of themselves].
--from the Amplified Bible
That is the reason you got all those thumbs down, brother. They have suppressed and hindered the truth, making it inoperative in themselves. The result is their minds have been darkened.
Difficult word, but truth, nevertheless.

No it just means others didn't agree. Remember St Francis
Lord, make me an instrument of Thy peace;
where there is hatred, let me sow love;
where there is injury, pardon;
where there is doubt, faith;
where there is despair, hope;
where there is darkness, light;
and where there is sadness, joy.
O Divine Master,
grant that I may not so much seek to be consoled as to console;
to be understood, as to understand;
to be loved, as to love;
for it is in giving that we receive,
it is in pardoning that we are pardoned,
and it is in dying that we are born to Eternal Life.
Amen.
Keep forgiving and loving

I'm not Pagan, and my name isn't Dan. I live in Taiwan, "pagan dan" is "bacon and eggs" in Chinese, and it amuses me to have a pen name.
People gve thumbs-down responses to answers for a variety of reasons:
1. A minority of non-believers think that they are smarter than us believers.
2. Other-believers are insulted and offended by efforts to make them change their beliefs--I'd sure be mad if some Muslim or Mormon or whatever tried to change me by acting superior.
3. A lot of us, believers and non-believers alike, get tired of people quoting the Bible instead of having original thoughts. It gives the impression that we cannot think, or do not wish to.
Instead of quoting the Bible, you might have just said, "The greatest thing about my religion is that I am precious in God's sight. He values ME, as an individual. He calls ME to be His servant. He calls Me to live with Him forever." Trust me, people see Bible quotes and lose interest immediately. I can't be bothered with non-original answers here--and I'm a Christian.
