and has no spatial dimensions, how does it manage to always be located in the same space you are?

How is it that God always chooses to do things in a way that is logically contradictory? In order to stand in relation to things in space, an object must be located in space. No spatial dimensions = not located in space. When God made Adam out of dirt, why didn't he make him a little dirt-soul too?

Thoughts ARE physical things -- they are brain-events. That is why they are located in the same space we are.

Good question. As a Christian I like that one, thought provoking, and frankly, one of the very few time I have been at a loss to provide a thoughtful, logical God based answer. I will look into it for my own knowledge. To the 1st question anyway.

To the second however, there is an answer.

God, nor Heaven exists in space. They exist out of time also.

This is an important Christian concept. God is able to 'see' everywhere, and through time because He is not physically there.

This is a weak analogy I know, but an easy way to try to understand is imagine sitting in a helicopter above a parade route. Because you are not in the parade, nor fixed at some point in time, you can see the beginning, and the end at the same time. This is kinda like how God exists.

This explains how God can exist, before Creation.

Before the Bang, there was nothing. Not empty space mind you, but nothing. No light, no gravity, , no space, no time, nothing. For any one of those things to exist, all must exist. The true definition of the absence of everything. This is agreed on by both Christian and Big Bangers.

But yet God existed...because He can exist without the physical nature of the universe.

Which brings me to a point...if there was nothing, absolutely nothing...nothing...then nothing...still nothing...then bang...something...where did the something come from?

A question Big Bangers can't fairly answer, but Christians can

Thanks for the thought provoking question...

The usage of the word soul in the Bible is such that it refers to two things:

1. The entire being, as the word doctor is used to refer to someone, thus the soul similarly refers to a being, an animal, or a human being.

2. The life this being has. For this reason as life may be said to leave a person dying, the soul similarly may do so.

For a scriptural discussion go to my profile and click on my homepage. There in the Basic Bible Two division, the subject is discussed using Biblical proof.

Pull, one of the Only things I DISlike as much as thought-lite theism, is bad logic.

Please ask Yourself Your same question, but change the word "soul" to: Courage. Imagination. Inspiration. Attention. Loyalty. Grace. Talent. Cognition!

You end up down the same rabbit hole now, don'cha.

A Christian's soul, like their God, is Also a trinity, of Mind AND Body AND Spirit. The great I AM.

Pull, Live. And Let Live.

Peace, Rick

your soul is not a spirit that leaves to heaven or hell after you die, it is YOU. when you die, your soul dies. the bible tells us that he created living souls. proof?

Genesis 2:7; “And Jehovah God proceeded to form the man out of dust from the ground [elements found in the earth] and to blow into his nostrils the breath of life, and the man came to be A LIVING SOUL."

the soul is located every where we are because the soul is us as a person. we return to the dust when we die and there we await our awakening call. (sounds kinda creepy but the New World Translation elaborates on that a bit more.)

God is light and we are made in His image. Our soul is light and our bodies are a dense veil to this reality. In every cell their is God's light. He has knowledge of all things....cause he is in everything....

Your body is connected to your soul. It actually is built upon your soul and goes everywhere your soul lead does. Your soul is multidimensional and contains every aspect of who you are. All thought, movement, emotion on the physical level is preceeded by movement on the sould level. It's like master and slave. Your body does what your soul commands it to do...Therefore God wants us to become aware of our souls, to awaken them...this is why he sent the Prophets to show us the way to understand our true nature as human beings. To live in full knowing of who we really are..Then our lives are richer and fuller and blessed even more abundantly by Him....

If we do not awaken our souls through prayer and following God's word, then our bodies lamely follow and become decrepid and diseased. But when we fill our hearts and souls with a practical knowledge of God's living Light then our bodies rise in health and our spirits are happy.

God creates paradox in the world that we may come to know His Unity through these signs. Everywhere we look there is duality, reminding us of His eternal Oneness. If we witness His Unity then we are golden, if we get caught judging His dualities, His Creation, then we are divided within ourselves and in our communties and suffer and struggle.

Trust that He has full knowledge of all things. And our incapacity to understand is sufficient....He has us just where He wants us to be...for none other than He put us here.....

Peace my friends......

I'm not a Christian, but I would imagine that if your soul is not a physical thing, then it's not bound by physical rules. Instead, God would have decided that it should be located in your individual body, and made it happen, since He can do whatever he wants.

I guess it's kinda like the ghostly blue Obi Wan in Empire Strikes Back, you just gotta use the force to believe it as with Luke.

God's ways are not man's ways. You are trying to reason in a human way. God is outside and beyond our limited logic. If you could ascend to God's level ,everything thing you ever wanted to know would be crystal clear.

The soul is energy. energy can not be destroyed. there are alot of people who have seen their souls come out of their body. i am one of them. i saw my soul come out and i could move around. i tried speaking to my parents but they did not hear me. when i finally went back into my body it felt like i was attached with a rubber band and it snapped me back. i believe it is connected to us with energy fields only the soul and the body are held to and each to its own.
