Can someone please explain why some christians ask questions about whether LDS are christians or not and then choose the answer they had allready picked out in there own minds before they asked the question instead of looking at the logical answers given and then choosing the one that makes sense?

I am LDS and I know we are christians and for a little clarification there are some people who ask whether we are christians or not and then they pick someone who says that we aren't or that our Jesus is not the same Jesus in the BIBLE. I will let you guys pick the answer that best fits because the asker should not be able to answer their own question on here it should be done by the rest of the community.

Basically because they really don't want to know. They've already decided who the LDS are and are just looking for others who agree with them instead of the facts that prove the opposite.

Hi. The biggest problem is that all Christians have different answers as to who God is probably because they have different versions of the Bible. The Jewish Bible, the Catholic Bible, and the Protestant Bible are significantly different from each other.Plus there are over 50 other different versions in English alone. Each Christian believes he/she has the correct Bible and all the other ones are wrong. That is why some say : " Jesus is the Son of God.Jesus is God.Jesus was human only .Mary is not the mother of God.Mary was a sinner, Mary was not taken up to Heaven etc.Where is the logic in this.?
I can't understand why they can't get together and agree who God is.They are very stubborn.I don't know why they do what you say but i am not surprised. They ridicule the Catholic Church terribly calling it a pagan religion ,run by the devil and say its followers are not Christians. I do not ridicule their beliefs. And these people are supposed to be "Christians"
EDIT......Mary does not exclusively belong to any Religion, but to all people and all Religions for she is truly queen of all nations. "There are no divisions in Heaven. We are all one family of God. I love you all. Now is the time to return to God."
Non Catholics will not accept Mary as their spiritual mother, the "new Eve",the ark of the second covenant.and God's Mother. They do not believe in her roll here on earth and in heaven.

Dear wditt2,
If the LDS claim to believe in the Bible then let's apply it.
Deuteronomy 18:20-22 states that: If someone claims to be a prophet, Examine his prophecies. If they fail to happen, then he is a false prophet.
Joseph Smith the founder of the Latter Day Saints claimed to be a prophet of God so there are two options:
1) He is false prophet.
2) He is a true prophet.
So let's examine his prophecies: (These are sourced from Mormon documents such as: Doctrine and Covenants, The Pearl of Great Price, History of the Church, Journal of Discourses and Mormon newspapers, etc.)
1. Smith prophesied that people live on the moon, dress like Quakers, live to 1,000 years old and are six ft in height. Brigham Young also claimed that people live on the sun!
2. Smith prophesied that the 10 lost tribes of Israel are living in a tropical valley at the North Pople. The Apostle John is still alive and lives with them there.
3. Smith prophesied that the second Coming of Christ would take place in 1891.
4. Smith prophesied that a temple would be built on the "temple lot" in Independence, Missouri, within the generation of those living in 1832.
5. Smith prophesied that he would return from Salem, MA with "many people" and "much treasure"
These are only 5 of 64 false prophecies given by Smith.
Smith claimed to be a prophet.
His propehices were false.
He was a false prophet.
Very simply when you examine the beliefs of both religions you will find that Christianity is based on the Bible and the teachings of Jesus Christ.
The LDS believes in the Bible but also believes in many other books (If the Bible is complete- why do we need the Book of Mormon- "Another Testament of Jesus Christ."?) But these other books have teachings that contradict what the Bible teaches and contain false prophecies. Cleary LDS and Christians are not the same- and it's not based on "preconceived notions" as you sugget but just simply studying what each group claims to believe. If you study them closely you will find that they are two competely different religions. To be a Christian means to follow Jesus- Mormons do not follow Jesus- they follow the book of Mormon.
Kindly,
NIckster

Nonsense the asker is always able to answer their own question in R&S. This is not like other sections in Yahoo Answers. where legitimate questions are asked. Wouldn't it be silly to ask if God exist if you didnt already know and just wanted to see what people would say.

People are always answering their own questions on here. They are just stating their opinion in the hopes it will spawn some debate.

Christian really? Come on!!!
You follow a some of Christianity but have changed it so much it can hardly really be Christian and some of what you follow is distinctly against Christian teaching.
America is over run with pseudo Christian sects and cults but has very few who are actually Christian!!!!

LDS do not believe Jesus is God incarnate. If you do not believe Jesus is all God and all man, then you are antichrist, and there are many. JW, LDS, are two that comes to mind.
