Alright, so I think I'm officially allergic to caffeine. I drank a large mocha today and felt tired after I drank it and sort of rested while I was studying. Then I got hungry and went back to my dorm. I ate a sandwich and drank two 16 oz. bottles of milk. Then I started to feel real anxious. My heart was racing and I had the worst panic attack (well not the worst but I'll explain the rest later). I thought I was going to pass out or die. I even called my mom like a couple minutes ago because I was scared I was gonna die or something. I told her that I think that my brain might be poisoned/infected from this sinus infection that I might have (I have an earache from blowing my nose due to congestion and slight eye pressure and discomfort from the area) and thought I was going nuts. She said to just calm down and ride it out. I think I'm starting to come to realization right now.

I experienced one of the worst panic attacks when I partook in Cannabis consumption last year and most recently, 5 days ago. The most recent encounter I had was with one of my buddies that used to live on my floor. He has a high tolerance to it and coaxed me into taking a hit. I did reluctantly and then I started to feel the effects of caffeine consumption but to an intense level. I was scared out of my mind and thought I was going to pass out because I had this feeling of paranoia. I tried to relax the best I could and ride it out. Eventually I fell asleep on the sofa and woke up an hour and a half later. I was thinking that maybe the cannabis was laced with cocaine, since coke and caffeine have similar effects. I partook in cannabis before and had a totally different (positive, for lack of a better word) experience than I had most recently. I won’t consume cannabis or caffeine ever again due to these symptoms. So do you think I am allergic to caffeine?

Caffeine allergy causes reactions in brain tissue, particularly the prefrontal cortex, producing a lack of focus and comprehension, lack of organizational skills, and a loss of verbal and social inhibition. Caffeine also raises catecholamine levels, which causes the body to produce more dopamine and increases activity. Too much dopamine leads to agitation. These symptoms can be mistaken for hyperactivity and ADHD, anxiety neurosis, or panic disorders. If the allergy remains undiagnosed, patients continue to ingest caffeine. Damage caused by this masked cerebral allergy can eventually lead to dementia, paranoia, and hallucinations. Patients with caffeine allergy are often diagnosed as having bipolar disorder or schizophrenia.

All that said, I love my coffee! Maybe you could take a smaller amount next time and see if it affects you the same way. Like maybe 1/2 cup of coffee.

Does this do this every time you have caffiene? Like, when you eat chocolate? Drink tea? I have never heard of anyone having an allergy to caffiene before, bu nothing is impossible. I think it's more plausable to say since you have a head cold that might be the cause of it, coupled with studying...are you under some stress from a test? Have you been getting any rest at all? could be an anxiety attack. It could also have something to do with the amount of sugar in said mocha. Most allergic reactions are that of a rash or blisters if it's topical, and swelling. Usually if it's something ingested, the throat starts to swell, cutting off airways. My opinion is it was an anxiety attack, but I don't know your past history with caffiene. Safest bet is to get checked out with a Dr.

If you hadn't had food in awhile, then the caffeine in the coffee (especially a large dose) could have given you a bit of a jolt, making you feel jittery. Caffeine can make people feeling jumpy or nervous, and too much is not good for us. Eating a sandwich was fine, but drinking that much milk was a bit much -- not that there's anything wrong with milk, but you likely felt bloated, too. If you were tense about anything during that period, then things were likely playing on your mind and that would have contributed to the situation.
The best thing now is to not ingest such large amounts of caffeine. I doubt that your brain is infected. As for the cannabis, I think you've figured it out ... leave the stuff alone!

Stop consuming caffeine and stop smoking. I know someone who had the same problem with panic attacks with both situations and after stopping both has not had a problem. An occasional soda might be ok, but if it still causes problems just cut it out completely and maybe go see your doc and let them know. It's not terribly uncommon.

No idea, I drink around 2 cups of coffee and 2 cups of tea a day and my skin is pretty bad looking but it's always been, I think it is mainly genetic whether you are a spotty type or not because I know a lot of people who eat junk food all the time and have amazingly clear skin and are as skinny as ****

You probably have developed a hypersensitivity to caffeine. I became hypersensitive after my doctor prescribed theophylline for asthma. Now I cannot even drink a cup of tea without it making my heart act up. I can tolerate some chocolate, but no tea or caffeinated soft drinks.
