Think about it, if that is so, then what's the point to all the complex chemical reactions and neural networks inside the brain, and the fact that something as simple as an antidepressant can change one's mood? Is the soul not separate from the body, and since our thoughts and emotions are part of the soul they shouldn't be affected by earthly things such as chemicals and electrical signals in the brain?
