Hair turns green because chlorine makes the metals in the water oxidize. Some water has more metals in it than other water -- which is why you may have this problem more often in a particular pool or a particular region of the country. (Like you might have a problem with your hair turning green on a vacation, but not at home.) To prevent your hair from turning green, comb some conditioner through it and wear a bathing cap while swimming. There are shampoos made to remove the green tint. Look for one EDTA. You can also try dissolving aspirin (real aspirin, not Tylenol or Advil) in some water and rinsing your hair with that.
