He will go out when its raining but he doesn't play in the kiddie pool or like getting a bath.

could it be he don't like water because he was found in a storm drain as a pup?

He will get in the kiddie pool to drink and get his paws wet but just not play.
My other dog loves swimming-we have a kiddie poool and she will swim in it and go in circles and shake off on my dog Duke.

Just because a dog is a Labrador Retriever doesn't mean it's inherently water loving. It could've had a bad experience with being around the element before and thats why the dog isn't interested.
Most definately. Something like that would be very traumatizing to a puppy for sure.

Huskies really dislike water, so it could just be that part of the mix coming out.
Puppies are also extremely impressionable between 6-11 weeks. Things that seriously frighten them during this time will typically stay with them the rest of their lives. So being found in a storm drain, if it had a lot of water, could also be part of the reason.
Don't force him to go in the water, or throw him in, it would probably just make it worse. Try to go somewhere like a lake, where it's smooth water and where he can walk into it. Walk in and call him, use treats to bribe him in, praise a lot.
Wait until it's warm out too. Our lab puppy initially wasn't fond of water until it got really hot out and she learned it cooled her down. Now we can't keep her out of it.

Not all dogs like water. Some people don't like the same thing, why should dogs be different? He's also mixed with dogs that aren't the most fond of water. You can teach him to swim, but doesn't mean he'll like it. Just how it is.

upon getting the applicable canines existence vest, take him for the long swim while you're interior the kayak. That way whether he gets drained you may in basic terms permit him decide for the flow at the back of you. As a lab you've the skill to teach/practice him the vest will carry him up and his in basic terms accountability is to paddle at the back of you.

With mixed breeds you can never be sure what traits the dog will have, they might look a bit more like one breed but act like another.
Just love your dog for what it is, give it good training and play with in ways that it enjoys, maybe it will like ball games, or sniffing out special treats around the yard.

Every dog is different. However, I happen to know that huskies hate water. My sister's huskie would not even walk on wet grass.

My lab mix doesn't swim either. She'll wade into calm water up to her elbows, but that's it.

Both of my dogs are lab mixes.. one Rott mix, one shepard mix.. they both HATE water & are terrified of hoses.. it depends on the dog, don't push them too hard.. if they don't like it.. they don't like it..
Mine are EXTREMELY happy being land creatures :)
