It all depends on the size of your dog and whether it is an active breed or not.
I have a heeler, which is a working dog, and to satisfy his exercise needs, I walk him for 30-40 minutes twice a day, (before I go to work and when I come home or after dinner)
Most large/working type dogs would probably be ok with this, but if you have a small dog breed, I would recommend shorter walks.
Cesar Milan's "The Dog Whisperer" has a great website, and a show on Pay TV, and DVDs which are helpful as well.
He believes the owner needs the training, not necessarily the dog, and when you watch it, and think about it - he is right. I have put his beliefs into practise with my dog, and there is no more barking, digging, and bad behaviour and I didn't have to be cruel to be kind.
Hope this helps.

dogs can develop alot of bad habits when they get bored. They need to be excercised everyday for at least 40 minutes. walking, playing fetch and any other play where you can act as the leader will be good for them. Also remember dogs are social creatures and like to be near you they may sleep better if they are crated in your bedroom or right outside your room. If they do not have issues in the house dog pillows on the bedroom floor work nice. Good Luck!

A good game of "find-it" where you hide a toy in another room and ask them to sit before you go hide it.............then when you return, tell them to "go-find-it". My golden LOVES that game.
If you don't have the time for that game...........just taking 5 or 10 minutes to throw a ball in the back yard is simple and they will love it.
A walk is the best thing you can do for your dogs! It gets them out and physically and mentally stimulates them. Twenty minutes of exercise, and mental health is a favorite. If they get this more than once a day, then they will love it!!
Even taking the time to sit on the floor by the tv and brushing them is something that gives them attention and relaxes them in the evening.

it fairly relies upon on your canine and his temperment. undergo in strategies canine are like athletes. in case you walk them 10 miles an afternoon youre gonna have a canine that often needs 10 miles an afternoon, yet somebody with the comparable breed, comparable elderly canine who in no way knowledgeable their canine to have that lots staying power might merely opt for a a million-2 mile walk an afternoon to get the comparable effects. for many canine the quantity of workout you provide it may well be good, yet back that's going to all matter on your canine and its pastime point. no remember if that's destroying the residing house, coming up undesirable conduct or enticing in in any different case distructive or incorrect habit that's probably that it is not getting sufficient workout.

you don't say how old or how big they are so that could change the answer somewhat. usually 30 minutes of good solid "stuff" should do it. fast paced walking or even jogging, they make a device you can attach to your bike so the dog trots while you ride. energetic, active catch, retrieve, frisbee, agility training anything that keeps them moving at a good clip. i am disabled and find the flyball stick very helpful in that regard as i don't have to chase (or deal with slime!)
