guess what.. you don't have a say in it. it is HIS life, therefore HIS decision. you have two choices: be supportive, or walk away now.

If the MEPS doctors cleared him, then he is eligible to enlist, simple as that. Flat feet does not automatically disqualify you any more.

My feet are as flat as the top of the desk I'm sitting at. Was in the Army for 12 years. No ill effects to date.

Having flat feet can mess up your back or your ankles or knees. I have bad knees after 13 years (and counting) in the Army with my own flat feet. It can also cause nothing at all.

Unless flat feet have already caused other joint problems, it is not a disqualification to military service.

The doc told him, so he'd know what could happen.

Now. As for you wanting to let him go--Were you counting on his flat feet keeping him out? Have you talked to him about what you think and feel? Just not quite seeing the connection between your feelings and his feet.

It depends on the severity of his flat feet what will happen later in life. I have had flat feet since childhood and have suffered no ill effects.

I had flat feet when I joined the Army. You can have flat feet in the military as long as it is asystematic.

Pes Planus (Flat Feet) is only disqualifying if it is symptomatic or involves the use of prescription orthotic devices to deal with it.

I just want to know how old you are and how long you two have been a couple. It seems like you're 17 and he's 18 and this is a teen relationship. If thats the case, you both don't know whats best for your relationship/lives and you probably won't until you are in you're mid 20's.

If you actually are in your mid 20's then you should respect his decision to make a change in his life, and if you two are truly meant to be together, it will work out no matter where his decisions in life take him.

Well, if he wants to join and he has already be accepted then you either need to support your boyfriends plans or break up with him.

Don't let him go! Stuff up his application by saying he has one lung or something freaky. Or just tell him without his health he wont be able to enjoy the full extent of life.
