Well Just wondering is this person going to be living alone? Or are you moving them in your home and there will be somebody here to help them?

*You can get one of those Body Chairs for the Shower Room
*Add bars by the Toilet ( To support themselves to get up)
*If a wheelchair is involved a little ramp into the shower and exits.
* Backscratchers, Also There are those little claws to pick up things from the floor
*Depending On whether or not they live alone, Having a little potty in the bedroom, helps a lot in case of a middle of the night run- They don't have to walk as much in the dark to get to the bathroom and that means less chance of falling

If there is an Ace Mart Drug Store near you.... THose are GREAT they have all the supplies needed to make your home into a convinient home for your loved ones. PLus experts to help you.

*Will They be living at home alone or will somebody be there for them? What is the condition? Do they just need minor car/ help??

Avoid the use of slippery floor tiles, not just in the bathroom but also in her sleeping and working area. Try to avoid also the use of dull paints....room should be wider and brighter to look at and should have a lot of natural lights esp if the user has a low vision. If you can make your appliances and or counters with height/s that can be adjusted, it will be more useful to your mother.

in addition to side bars in the tub - add a bar to above the taps... it will assist greatly...

change the light switches if they are those little flippers to the push type...

also add a phone with large buttons...

faucets that are flippers not knobs...

lots of lights

ensure drawers slide smoothly...

I know this sounds crazy....but put in a taller toilet. The tall toilets are easier to set on and get up from....especially if they have hip or knee problems.

Keep things at a level easy to reach at so they don't have to do any stretching or bending down.
