To answer your question directly. The Winchester Model 1894 Lever Action Rifle was manufactured the same year as it's model designation indicates. This was Winchester's first offering of the 38.55 WCF (Winchester Center Fire) cartridge.
This gun was made in both a Round Barrel and Octagonal Barrel model in 24" or 26" variations. It had a straight Grip Walnut Stock. It was also produced in a "Deluxe" version with better grade of wood, and factory checkering cut by hand.
This Winchester rifle is most famous because it was the predecessor to the now famous Winchester "94" that has had a tremendous following here in the U.S. since ever it's inception.(Winchester changed the model nomenclature from the Model 1894, to the Model 94 in rifles produced after 1924. The most famous caliber then and now is the revered 30-30 Winchester caliber..
As far as value is concerned, an Original Winchester 1894 in 38-55 caliber in 80-90% ORIGINAL condition is valued in excess of $4500.00 in todays market, for Collectors. The "Deluxe" versions in this same condition can easily command DOUBLE the values of the standard models. Deluxe versions as they are quite rare, and highly prized Collector's items......

It would be hard to know the value without knowing more about your rifle-the model, its age, condition, features, etc. Probably from a couple hundred on up. Here is some history:
Introduced by Ballard in 1884 for various single shot target rifles, the .38-55 was one of the first cartridges to appear in Winchester's Model 94 lever action ten years later. The .38-55 was also once available in the Marlin Model 93 and Savage Model 99 lever actions, the Remington Lee bolt action, and various Winchester single shot rifles.
In its high velocity loading, which pushed a 255 grain bullet along at over 1500 fps, the .38-55 once enjoyed an excellent reputation as a deer and black bear cartridge for woods hunting. Many hunters were forever convinced that due to the .38-55's greater bullet diameter it was a far more effective big game cartridge than the .30-30 and not far behind the harder kicking .45-70.

Value depends a LOT on age and condition - can't really judge that online. (Take it to a local gun shop - they can help you with this.)
"Introduced in 1884 as one of the calibers for the Ballard Perfection #4. No commercial rifles were available after Winchester dropped the 38-55 from the Model 94 list of calibers in 1940. However, the cartridge has been reintroduced by Wincester in several versions of the Model 94 in recent years."
