I think it might be a metaphor or something. After they've killed all of the infidels, they think there will be peace.

I think is Islam is a religion of peace. However some ignorant Muslims twisted Islam a long time ago. Take me for example: I live in a country with Islam as the main religion but I'm not a Muslim nor I was forced into joining Islam. During a certain period of the year, Muslims will celebrate their new year and there will be an open house where everyone is invited to feast together(Though only politicians will do that). If you do your research on countries such as Singapore and Malaysia, you'll be amazed that Muslims there are quite open-minded.

I cant believe that after all of events that have happened just in the last century That People will still generalize a whole group of People by the unfortunate actions of a few.As for the verses listed from the Quran ,They are historical events .Do you believe that every Muslim in the world wants to kill innocent Human beings? That's Like people Believing that Black People have no souls. It wasn't that long ago that this was a common belief.I think that Human kind is doomed. No matter how many times God reveals a truth to you ,You choose to remain Ignorant.

Your statements by quoting some verses of Qur'an are not quite right and very mislead the readers of Yahoo..You must relate a verse with other verse before and after it So you will know the real meaning and the real intention of God.A surah and its verses should be connected too with the cause of why God has given those verses or asbabul nujum.
1).In 2:216 (al Baqarah) God instructed all muslims to go to war because that is their obligation for defending Islam. At that time prophet Muhammad and his followers in Medina were attacked by kafir(unbeliever) soldiers from Mecca(Uhud and Badar wars) but most muslims did not want to go to war.,with some reasons because they knew that kafir soldiers were so many and well equipped.
2)In 3:28 ((Ali Imran)God insructed that muslims do not make a kafir person as a guardian (wali or person who is witness the validity of a wedding) in a muslim marriage ceremony because a kafir person has no same faith with muslim.
3)In 4:89 (An Nisaa) God instructed muslims do not make a kafir person as their helper if he wants to make muslims come back to be a kafir..It is a logic instruction.
4)In 9:29 (At Taubah) God instructed muslims to make a war with kafirs, because the kafirs would not pay islamic taxes (jizyah) and they do not want to comply to the muslim government's rules and regulations
5)In 33:27 (Al Ahzab) God gave to you lands, houses and other properties of kafirs which have been left by them (in verse 26 Bani Quraizhah a jewish tribe who assisted and made ally with the enemies of muslims in Medina)
6)In 86:17 (At Thaariq) God instructed that muslims should give a time extension to the kafirs for a moment, because in verse 86:15 God spoke that kafir people have a cruel plan
Please brother do not read Qur'an with full hatred.Islam is a peaceful religion

I would say that not only Islam but all religions are eligions of peace. It is the interpretation that spoils the matter. All religions have undergone this state in the long history of human being-written or not.
The interpretation is always personal and most often is a result of one's ego.
Over the period of time, it has become almost a 'fashion' to wage a war in the name of religion, as if it makes the war beyond discussion and doubt.
Islam is no exception. The invaded indian sub-continent to spread the 'message of allah'.
Islam speaks of tolerance, & the same is interpreted as 'the matter is now beyond the highest level of tolerance that Koran permits and now it is duty of sons of allah to resolve!' Lo.....ground for a war is ready!
The same happens in all religions. It is this reason that org'n like UNO came into existance. As long as attitude towards religion does not change, this will sadly continue.

Ick. I'm not really specified as any religion but I sure as hell do not support the Islamic religion.
It is definitely not a religion of peace. I believe that they want to kill anyone and everyone who doesn't believe that Allah is 'the one'. I do not think that there is any Muslim who truly loves America, who truly is open-minded about other religions.
They call it the 'religion of peace' because they want more followers. They don't want people to think that they're out to kill all Americans and rid of other religions.
Why don't they explain why Muslims destroyed the Twin Towers? Or chopped off the heads of reporters and military men?

In my opinion, people, especially Christians, who accuse Islam in that manner have no credibility whatsoever!
And I'll tell you why...
If you go back in history and count how many crimes were committed in the name of Christianity against humankind, you will find that it surpasses all crimes that had taken place by the so-called Muslims acting in the name of their religion.
Islam IS a religion of Peace, whether you like it or not! Sorry to dissapoint you!

I see Muslims on an individual basis, for each seems to be different. In Islamic countries (Egypt and Jordan), one Muslim would caringly give me directions, while another would pick my pocket. I have seen many who find that ripping off an infidel as good sport. I have seen others that rebuke them. So really, it all depends.
My biggest disdain for Islam (Islamic countries) is how they teach their children to hate. I have video after video of Islamic children being taught to regard Israel as an evil state and Jews as needing extermination. Not satisfied with 1/3 of the land mass of the earth, they want that tiny sliver of land for themselves. They promise land for peace, and deliver continued violence and shouts of destruction. Give them Jericho, and they are not satisfied. Give them Bethlehem, and they are not satisfied. Give them Gaza, and they are not satisfied.
Now remember, I am talking Islam as a "body", not the individual Muslim. For example. There have been almost 7,000 terrorist attacks since the 70s done in the name of Allah and Islam. How many times has the U.N. denounced these attacks? ZERO. Yet Israel, in trying to defend herself, has been condemned hundreds of times. Can you see the utter imbalance? One Jew went crazy in Hebron, and immediately the Knesset condemned the action. If Islam would do that, then my view would change over night.
So individually, it depends on the Muslim that I meet and talk to. Corporately, I think Islam is guilty of major crimes against humanity by being silent when condemnation is due.

I think it depends on whether the man (or woman) who is following the writings is a person of peace. Then the same can be said of the Bible.
