I've heard of a cable or something that records video on TV and makes it a file on your computer. Where would I find such a thing? Also, if there are different things for different file types, I need Windows Media Player files. A Fullmetal Alchemist spoof is at stake! Thanks.

This is called a TV Tuner. If you want to pay a premium to make sure you get the right thing then go to Best Buy. If you are confident that you can find the right thing then look up "TV Tuner" on the internet. If you want the best of both worlds then ask what you need at Best Buy and go home and buy it on the internet.

The Tv card in my computer does that. ATI has several vid cards ( brand named as "all in one" ) with Tv in and out as well as does Nvidia. Mine is a much older card that was sold as a stand alone card to add Tv to my Nvidia video card. I even have used it to service VCR's. Most all of them support US and PAL as well as cable and vcr signals. Many people today are using such a system to burn their vcr tapes to dvd.
