Our own government is allowing US companies to set-up in different countries with the same tax breaks as here in the US. It's not just cheap labor, they don't have to meet the safety, and other standards set here in the US. Look at everything that has come into the US from China, and the problems that have been identified.so far. No one can say we are attacking China, when the same items if produced in the States would face the same standards we ask of China or any other country. Next time you go shopping for anything, look at where it was made, STOP BUYING items that are made overseas. If there isn't a market for any of those items coming into the states it will stop. What people in the United States don't keep in mind is that the item might be cheaper than if it was made in the US, but what recourse do you have if that item effects your health in any way. Lead poisoning is the big thing with alot of products from China now. The responsibility can't be put just on the food and drug administration to inspect and stop the importing of these items, again it's the people shipping it and the American public willing to buy the items because they are cheaper than American made.
What can the people of the United States do to get the jobs lost to overseas countries, vote for people that will look for imports that will be safe and benefit everyone in the US, stop buying the cheap products that could be produced in the States. Lastly, when it comes to identifying illegals crossing the border and taking American jobs, there are other means of illegals arriving without crossing the Mexican border only. People that are able to work, and parents have to get their children to understand and to support them in getting an education in whatever area they think they would be happy to work in. To many jobs are lost because of lack of effort, education, willingness to work at getting experience to obtain a job they are interested in preforming. If there is a way and you don't take it, someone that can't speak or understand English will be ready to take the jobs away from you.

I don't see what illegal immigration has to do with American jobs moving to foreign countries, but if you want to stop them from moving, you should boycott all products that were made in China. Before you buy anything, check to make sure it was not made in China. If you hear about a company outsourcing it's jobs to foreign countries, write to them telling them you'll boycott their products if they do. If they already have outsourced, boycott their products but write to them anyway so you'll get the message out that you oppose outsourcing.
I personally think that the U.S. should declare a trade embargo against China, or at least charge expensive tarriffs on goods imported from China so it will be no cheaper then manufacturing them here. Chinese factories force their employees to work long hours for the equivalent of a few cents per day. Many of them employ children. Many Chinese products are made using slave labor by prisoners. There is also some evidence that Chinese factories may use materials from North Korea, so by buying a Chinese-manufactured product, you may be supporting North Korea. The North Korean products could have been made by slaves, some of whom are children, in North Korean prisons. Many of theses would be political prisoners and their families. You will be supporting slavery, child labor, scant wages, inhumane working conditions, oppresive governments, brutal dictators like Kim Jong Il and Hu Jintao, and their militaries if you buy Chinese-manufactured products.

What a terrific question, one which probably no one has got a good answer for, but I'll try, see what you think.
Invite the companies that have relocated overseas, back to this country, by offering them the following incentives:
(1) No federal, state or local taxes for the next 10 yrs.
(2) The federal and/or state governments to offer them free rent on/in any government owned land and buildings in which they can choose to set up shop.
(3) Will not have to offer their employees any medical or benefits of any kind.
(4) No unions would be allowed.
Only one stipulation: must pay all employees 1 and 1/2 the prevailing min. wage in the area to which they relocate.
How's that,
Wotan?

Money talks. Boycott companies that outsource their jobs to third world countries for cheap labor.
Goods made overseas are not any cheaper than the goods that were manufactured in the US. Who keeps the profits?

the walmart answer is the stupidest thing i ever heard. walmart buys everything from china to get the bottom dollar, if you want to support american stuff, then pay a little more instead of getting cheap made in china junk. the problem is most people dont have enough self discipline to pay $2 more and stay out of walmart.

Buy American made products. Stores sell what people buy. If more people would insist on buying American, stores would stop carrying so many imported goods. Be prepared for a long search and premium prices for premium products.

Try to buy and do business with as many companies as possible that stay state side. Boycott the ones that go out of the country (yes, give up the Hershey Bars, too, I'm afraid).

United Farm Workers, a UNION, offered up jobs at less than min wage and no benefits? That was only a half million jobs. ~BS~ Besides, we have lots of prisoners that need to work and earn their keep in jail!

Employers or citizens cannot solve this fundamental problem, the government needs to step in and reduce immigration and outsourcing back to its 1980 levels
