Fish is fish: Oatmeal is oatmeal. Fish cannot be the same as oatmeal. Yes, each may contain some of the same nutrients, but they look different and taste different.

The names are interchangeable In the South many times you'll get a freshly noodled Catfish when you order oatmeal at some restaurants.

Other than the fact that you can make both of them into gruel, I don't know. I guess you can make fishcakes and oatcakes, too.
