it's not so much HOW much you eat but more WHAT you eat.

to get yourself started and motivated quick try this:
for 2 days consume nothing but liquids. All day long! drink 1 bottle of water every hour or two. drink juice and milk and soy milk, etc. you can have yougart and no fat/low sodium soup.

you'll lose a few pounds after day 2!
then keep doing that and now eat ALL the fresh fruit and veggies you want with a little bit of lean meat (baked fish or lean turkey or lean chicken) and rice.

do this for a week and you'll be amazed at how much u lose!

Consider what your long term goal is, not just weekly goals. Sometimes if dieters think about how much they have to lose they become discouraged if it doesn't come off immediately. Why not set your goal at a 10 lb loss, and a reasonable time to lose it, say about 5 weeks. After reaching your first goal you will feel better about continuing.

---Dieting is first about getting your mind right!----
*Go to the Weight Watchers website (or any other you choose) and determine how many calories you need for your size.
*To lose weight subtract about 500 a day. If you are exercising you should not subtract quite as much.
*Get a book that lists the caloric contents of food.
*List the foods you eat each day and add up all the calories to make sure you are eating what you have decided your needs are.
*Rather than depending just on packaged foods, add some salads, fresh fruit, and vegetables to add fiber but few calories.

When dieting it is important not just to reduce calories, but to eat enough so that your body doesn't start "saving fat". It is possible that you were not eating enough, especially if you were exercising. Or it could be that you were not only losing fat, but adding muscle. Muscle is more dense so a small weight gain might occur, but if you continue to exercise and diet you will lose weight. It is impossible not to. Good Luck.

Your weight can differ by quite a bit based on water weight. It's possible you initially weighed yourself when you were dehydrated (morning) and you later weighed yourself after eating.

You can't lose 1 lb a day of actual tissue consistently. It's only possible if you're extremely obese, have undergone dramatic surgery, or are purging. If you lose just 2 lbs a week, that's very impressive already.

Your food intake seems ok but if you really want to jumpstart your routine, engage in some moderate weight training and try biking/swimming to complement your jogging
