OK, you go AWOL and then what? Do you actually have a plan? Will you leave the country? Will you go on the run for the rest of your life, or only desert long enough to get kicked and go back to get a dishonorable discharge and possibly serve a small amount of jail time?
Why did you join the military if you weren't going to fulfill your contractual commitment? What has changed since such that you feel you can't fulfill your obligations? These are questions only you can answer. And you better have or find good answers to them, because your going to asked that for the rest of your life regardless of what your answers happen to be. Since I don't know anything about your situation, I certainly can't answer that for you.
I can tell you that many people will consider you coward for deserting the military, and others will applaud you because they are so strongly anti-Bush. Their opinions don't matter as much as your opinion of yourself. You know what the consequences are either way, which you will have to live with for the rest of your life. Choose wisely.

Nope, if you really don't want to go, find another way out.
If you have a serious problem, talk to the Chaplin and your entire chain of command. They don't want to deploy with someone that has a problem, and may be more than happy to replace you, or find you a duty that is more agreeably to you.
If they just need another body and don't seem to understand your position, you can always "milk" an existing medical problem. The military doesn't want the added expense of treating a medical problem overseas. Backaches, vision and hearing are easy to flunk. "Brain injuries" from proximty concussions seem to be the "hot" trauma these days
Just do it soon so they can get a replacement that wants to go.

No. You will get caught (everybody does, eventually), and a Dishonorable or Bad Conduct Discharge will hound you for the rest of your life. It will be very difficult to find a job with that on your record.
Stay in, do your duty and get out of the service the RIGHT way.

No, If you are having a difficult time you need to talk to a Chaplin or a counselor. Going AWOL with affect you the rest
of your life, in a negative manner and you will get caught.
Good luck, I hope that you find the help that you need.
God bless you during this difficult time.

No, nothing positive can come from this. Go talk to your Chaplain. Having a Bad Conduct Discharge does not look good in the civilian world when you go looking for a job.

No. I think that the way this question is being handled is crazy. For you people who call him yellow, or knock him, did you serve any time, and if you did, did you see war? I know there is a lot over there. I know you have seen a lot. My husband went through PTSD after his first deployment, and he is back again. I know it is hard for you, but if you need to talk, e-mail me. I will try and help you through this with Gods help. It will be okay.

Whasamatter? You joined the service. No one threatened you and you weren't drafted. You also signed a contract to serve your country. If this is your second deployment, suck it up. You came back once, you can do it again.

Sure if you think Leavenworth sounds like club med and you really want to go.
If you joined the military willingly and were not drafted or forced with a gun to your head you have no room to ***** about having to deploy.
Suck it up and live up to your obligations.
