Has he been outside? Or is he an inside cat? If he's an outside cat, maybe he got in a fight with another cat or dog. Or if he's an inside cat, maybe he was scratching his ears and he clawed the inside of it. Or maybe his eardrum popped, I doubt that. If you call him and he comes to you, maybe his eardrum didn't pop. Keep a paper towel on his ear and don't let any blood drip. How long ago did you find out? How long was his ear like that. Was there a lot of blood? Take good care of him and try to clean the blood a bit. Just show him a lot of love and effection and he will feel loved still. He might not evrn know his ears bleeading. Hope he gets better. ♥

I'm assuming no chance that he was in a fight?
Since you mentioned a history of fleas and worms I'm thinking it could be ear mites or something of that nature. Still, I have to say that I've never heard of mites causing bleeding, but I do know they can cause serious problems if left untreated. It sounds like you are trying to get him to vet ASAP which is good. I hope you can somehow manage it before Friday. Good luck with your boy.

Clip his nails and check his back nails too to make usre they are not super sharp. If you never clipped a cat's nails before you can use your own nail clipper. Just clip off a tiny bit on the very top - where there is nothing showing inside the nail.
Try to clean his ears with a Q-tip dipped into olive oil. Do not stick the Q-tip far down into the ear.
Check his ear for a puncture wound (cat bite) and if you find one, clean the wound several times a day with a cotton ball soaked with peroxide.

If your ears are bleeding, it infers a break in the skin exposing a blood vessel to the outside. Considering the ear is not the cleanest place in the body, this could be a source of infection, and ear infections can also lead to temporary or permanent deafness.

bleeding from scratching? ear mites can drive an animal crazy. i understand that you may not inspect your animals regularly, but this is a reason you should. you can prevent serious problems that require a vet treatment if you just simply inspect and groom your pets regularly. an ear cleaning is something your vet can teach you. and you will learn it because you have a problem right now. as long as you take him to the vet as you say

Is there "cruddy stuff" in there? Ear mite possibility?
If not, maybe his ear drum got punctured or a deep inner ear infection that was previously undetected and now ulcerated from his scratching.

Have it looked at. I don't remember any bleeding, but one of ours once got a thing, can't remember the name, that was a lump of sorts that had to be drained. And supposedly if we didn't have it worked on her ear it basically would have shriveled up and she's be left with no ear.
