My husband and I read through the Bible once a year. This year, we decided to read the NLT. It hasn't been my favorite translation, overall (I study with the ESV and Young's Literal Translation). But we have been reading Galatians in the past two days and it's like I have new eyes to see it. It has been incredible! I want to shout from the rooftops what good news the Gospel really is! :)

What, in Scripture, has touched or amazed you lately?

The other night I was praying with a good friend of mine, and I received a vision. I won't go into it here, suffice to say that I immediately asked what it was about, and my friend turned to Isaiah 35 and read EXACTLY what the whole image had been about.
Stuff like that is incredible.
The other thing is... Christians need to wake up and really understand the power that they hold in prayer! Boy.... the experiences we can have and the movement we can facilitate.... PRAY people!!

blessings all :)

Maybe I just don't understand Ebonics. To me some of the meaning of the scripture seems ton get lost. Anybody out there who is a born again Bible believing Christian and fluent in Ebonics care to compare the the accuracy of an Ebonics Bible with The Message, KJV, NASB or NIV?

Surprisingly Galatians! I just notice somethings while reading through this wonderful epistle recently -

There was a tug of war going on for the Galatians between Paul and the hot shot Jewish "Christians" who insisted that the Gentiles had to be circumsized to be saved. They were so insistant that people had to keep that law and some others that even Peter and Barnabas were intimidated into following them. But God! God sent Paul to challenge Peter and the rest to return to the pure, real gospel - faith in Christ alone!! was the only real salvation! (It's takes courage to be a Christian! And Paul had some "cajones" if you know what I mean!)
These bloated Jewish gas bags were a "thorn" in Paul's side because they followed behind him, telling the recent converts that they had to keep more Jewish laws in order to be really saved. They tried to mix grace with works which never works! No hybrid gospels!! You can't have the old covenant mixxed in with the new! That causes wineskin crisis as Jesus talked about in Matt. 9:17.
This is message we need to hear today!! The power of the name of Jesus is enough to not only save but heal, cast out devils, and bring life to every area of our lives! It's not me keeping some of the law + believing in Jesus. No! It's all Jesus or nothing! Because GRACE is "God's Redeptive Action Completely Executed!" Not "Good Religious Activity Commonly Exercised" by sincere but silly Christians or religious folk.

Faith in Jesus is where life is at! God Bless!

Psalm 34:18-19... The Lord is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves such as have a contrite spirit. Many are the afflictions of the righteous, but the Lord delivers him out of them all.

I just really like this, because there are so many heartbreaking things that can happen in a person's life. It's just good to know that when you're going through something painful, God is holding you close.

Galatians was a great book for me as well. I took up the habit of copying books of the Bible for a while and Galatians was one of them I copied. Man the Holy Spirit really talks to you as you copy each word down. I have been meditating on the first part of Joshua lately, I find the symbolism of them crossing the Jordan and entering the promise land like was happen to us spiritually after getting saved.

Kl, many scriptures really speak to my heart! However, a few years ago, I taught the Book of Daniel and the more I read and researched, the more I could fell Daniel's love, for God! This Book still inspires me and drips with the love between God and man!!

Another book which intrigues me is Revelation. I have always loved John. His writings, from visions and what the Lord gave to him to write, are just amazing to me! It was to John as well...LOL...poor John....the numbers of soldiers marching outnumbered the entire populas, in John's day! He could NOT believe this army, moving towards Israel! This Book, holds many truths for us, today. If noone believes this, read it and then, watch the news or, pick up a newspaper!

I have been amazed by 2 Corinthians 5:12-7:2 - its all one related chain of thought. The love of Christ compels us (5:14); we regard no one according to the flesh (5:16); if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation (5:17); be reconciled to God (5:20); we have spoken openly to you, our heart is wide open (6:11); now in return for the same, you also be open (6:13); open your hearts to us (7:2). I have always thought one verse at a time. I have never realized how important it is or the bais for having an open heart toward everyone. I am keenly aware of my lack of open heart towards some who have hurt me. I am uncomfortable in their presence, avoid eye contact and have difficulty accepting their kindnesses. My failure to keep my heart open to others is a reflection on the degree to which I have failed to live as a new creation who is reconciled with God.

the leviathin have you ever heard of such a creature. My only question about that chapter is. Is the leviathin a real literal creature or some kind of an illustration intended to be a representation of something more spiritual?

Wow. That's kind of a tough one, because everytime I read the Bible, something new pops out at me, and I just feel like dancing or something. It is like God is talking directly to me at that very moment, and yes, it is a joyful thing. God Bless
I read NKJV. I love it.

Psalm 42-43 talks about where is your God.

It took me years to find where the phrase "I will go to the alter of God, the God who give joy to my youth" comes from.

Answer: "Your word is a lamp unto my feet and a light to my path" Psalm 119:105
