No...in fact I am a slave to Allah SWT . Who would want to be a slave? Well I am not a slave to Islam. I mess up all the time and I am probably a problem child lol...There is only one thing
since I made my Declaration of Faith...to the Imam, the worshipers at the Masjid, and to the whole universe that I have ever done 100 percent right and that was my Shadallah.
Since then I have learned a lot from trial and error and I always know what I should and should not do. The screen between me and the Imam and the words I proclaimed that night was a proud moment for me because it was buried deep in my heart and was screaming to come out of my mouth.
Very reverently though I repeated those words with as much faith now as back then. I remember clearly the Imam gently asking me if I knew with what resposibilities came with this Declaration and I realized my life was going to change forever
as a result. I had already been a slave to this world, greed, pleasures of every sinful kind, and hedonism. That slavery ...because the pursuit of those things made me a slave in misery. I exchanged it to become a slave to Allah SWT and the bondage of those things from the past were gone. Some that was sure to kill me or lead me to a miserable existance here on earth. I am not a perfect Muslim
if there is such a thing and I make mistakes plenty..but I do got one thing 100 percent right. My Iman. The rest is a struggle. I look at my life as a Muslim as progress. You get back from it as much as you are willing to put in. The less I do the less results I see. The more I do the more I see. I still have free will and can act upon any temptation at any time. As the Imam pointed out clearly that night it is a responsibility...but if done correctly one that comes with rich rewards. And of course consequences.
Wasalaam
Peace
