How serious is the conflict in Iraq to ensuring global peace and security?

What is the likelihood for peace sometime soon?

The war in Iraq has little to do with "Global Peace or Global Security" and everything to do with the safety and the future of America.
One of Americas biggest mistakes is trying to be "policeman" to the world. That is NOT our job, we are not very good at it, and other nations resent and fear our intrusion.
The invasion of Iraq is the first war in 60 years that is justified.
If you think this is about "democracy " for Iraq.....or oil......or revenge or an ego trip for the Bush family.....or secular conflict.... you just demonstrate how little you know about the geopolitical situation in the region. Unless we "win" in Iraq ,we not only will face increased terrorist attacks, not only could we be sucked into another Armageddon, but we could even see America economically destroyed.

Peace in Iraq? Hopeless.

What you are seeing now is a resumption of internal conflict that was momentarily interrupted by the brutality of Saddam Hussein.

Once he was taken off the teapot, it just exploded like it has been boiling for decades.

i would remind the people here posting about "victory over Al-Queda" that Al Queda was not even in Iraq before we invaded.

Al Queda is NOT the problem in Iraq. Defeating it means nothing to the overall stability of the country.

Already the primary publication is on the side of the Iraqis, Al Jazeera, along with Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Libya, Gunter, Jordan, Afghanistan, Pakistan, and of course Iraq. That should show that those who follow the Wahhabi form of Islam (Taliban & Al Qiada) are beginning to become the enemy of the world. Things are beginning to look real good.

When was the last time you watched the real news?

Things in Iraq have taken a turn for the better, they have been improving for months.

There is a real chance for peace in Iraq, if Iran will simply allow it to happen there is a chance for peace in the entire mid east.

If we have peace in the mid east that will take care of a big chunk of the earth. The rest will require a miracle.

Peace is the Middle-East is like snow in Tennessee, it last while it last.
Stability is the keyword here, we need one stable country to anchor the rest. Saudi-Arabia may be stable, but they seem to be a hotbed for terrorist recruiting. (I think the government pays the terrorist to "take it outside" their borders.)
Iraq is a hard country to secure, they have countries on every border, and even Turkey seems to be intent on causing them problems. (They used to be such a nice country!)
But, when they are stable, and a Military power to be reckoned with, they may be one of our best allies in that region. (and Donald Trump will be the lead in "Miss Saigon")

Peace? There hasn't been peace there... well... I don't think there has ever been true peace there.

It's a pretty serious deal, but not as serious as Iran will be.
