Hi obviously from the question I have a dog that needs to be potty trained. Well actually its more like she knows where she's suppose to pee and stuff but sometimes she just does her wastes on the carpet! (i guess its the same as needing to be potty trained tho lol) It really makes my parents angry and I'm scared they might give her away!! So i was wondering if you could give me some advice ><" I would be REALLY grateful! ♥ Oh and she's around 1 1/2 years old and she's a maltese ^^ Please and Thank you! ♥♥

Ohkaii well everytime he goes to the bathroom on your rug give him a little slap on his nose you might think no this is cruel but thats the only way he will learn that its bad to go in the house. Anyways thats the punishement. Now to train him to go outside well my cauzin got this spray thing its for dogs you can ask your local pet store for it. Well its this spray and wherever you spray it is where the dog will want to pee. Something like that. It will help! Also everyone once in a while when you can see he hasn't been outside in a while then bring him outside so he will go there do this more often then he will eventually start going to the door like other dogs do. WELL good luck! XD

First of all, she needs to be crate trained...
...you have to take her out often......
...You NEVER yell at her...or do what some idiots do, and take the dog to the pile of poop and yell at her as dogs have no short term memory span.....
If you see her start to look like shes gonna go in house, ...then get her and bring her outside...
Bring her out often...and always PRAISE PRAISE PRAISE her, everytime she goes....try and take her to the same spot.
Pick anything off the carpet and take it out to her spot...and put it there.....and tell her "good dog"....She'll learn...but she obviously hasnt had the proper training.
Putting her in her crate while youre gone for a few hours helps too,...as soon as u come home, take her outside..and make sure you're giving her enough time, ...dogs like to sniff around for just the right spot....
Also,..there are loads of good sites for training dogs, so type in "house breaking my dog" ...into your browser.
And good for you for being a good pet owner!....
oh and one more thing, if you're feeding crappy food.....that will make her go to the bathroom more per day.Stick to a good quality dry food only.....and you'll see a difference.
Canidai is a good one, and chicken soup is a good too....but no can food, ...not good at all, and no rawhide......Her diet can really affect how much she goes to the bathroom..
good luck
PS.. .YOU DONT SLAP THE DOG ON NOSE OR ANYWHERE ELSE...and do not listen to anyone that says that...its pathetic. NO animal learns from being slapped.

She is already 1.5 years old so there shouldn't be any problems with her pottying in the house. Make sure you are taking her outside once an hour so she has no excuse to go in the house. Take a few treats outside with you and when she goes praise her and give her treats. If she just started going in the house then take her to the vet to be checked for a urinary tract infection because that can cause animals to begin going in the house.

After your dog is done eating or wakes up you should encourge her to go outside and say something like "potty time" or whatever you like. Then watch her and make sure she does her business, and if she does tell her that she's a good girl or praise her. Sooner or later she will get used to the rutine.
Hope it works out.

you just have to show her what is right and what is wrong. don't give her the chance to poop in the house... take her outside every few hours so she can go in the grass and when she does tell her how good she is and reward her. if she does have an accident, just show her that it was bad... so reward her for good, tell her it was bad for bad... and make sure to take her out really often so she never has to go in the house.
I guess I have one of the better answers since I only got one thumbs down??? what's with everyone getting the multiple thumbs downs?

My Lord; you have a dog that's 1½ years old and is NOT trained? Lazy you! No wonder your parents are pissed! Do you have any idea what carpet costs?
Call a trainer today; this is going to be hard for a dog that old!
If you can't get a trainer, go to the library and get a book, and get to WORK. I mean ACTIVE work!

ok try this is will help...feed her a cup of food in the morning then let her out and make sure she dose her thing. do the same at night or not up to you. also while u are not home give her ice cubes intstead of water she will still get water but wont get it as fast so she will not have to pee all the time

WITH A DOG THAT SIZE THEY WILL USUALLY POOP WITHIN 30-60MINS AFTER EATING SO TRY TO TAKE HER OUT THAT LONG AFTER SHE EATS. IF YOU TAKE HER OUT AND SHE POOPS PRAISE HER AND GIVE HER A TREAT. IF YOU HAPPEN TO CATCH HER IN THE MIDDLE OF POOPING IN THE HOUSE TELL HER NO PICK HER UP AND TAKE HER OUTSIDE. SHE'LL GET THE IDEA.
