You can get a poster from Wal Mart or Target, that shows all the chords and how to play them. Basically, it will show you where to put your fingers.

Have fun!

That, my dear, is a chord progression. A chord is a grouping of notes that are played together. You will need to learn the various fingerings for the chords. There is tab all over the place that can help you learn to finger the chords. There is even a little electronic device you can pick up at the local music store (or online) that can show you how to finger practically any chord you give it. Another thing to point out is there is more than one set of fingerings that you can use to play a chord. One thing that will help you as a guitar player is to learn the bar chord. It is very hard to finger, but as you persist with it, you will find it a very easy way to do chord changes. All of the good guitar players use the bar chord.

But even more than learning the fingerings, I would suggest learning spellings of the chords and the nomenclature of them. (why they are named the way they are) There is no way to do this without getting into some music theory and this is not a proper forum for discussing that, because some amount of visualization is needed.

If you are really into learning about music, I would recommend you getting a workbook written by Dr. Gerald Eskelin, called "The Sound of Music: Perception and Notation". He has an unbelievable ability to explain musical concepts in a way that most music teachers cannot begin to do. I only wish it were around when I was first learning music. It can be purchased at Amazon or Barnes & Noble. Below is a link to his webpage.

You may be referring to the chord of B7, which is a dominant seventh chord. To obtain this chord, you would flat the seventh note on the scale of B, making A the flatted seventh.

Here is what the chord looks like:

X212O2

That's what the hell it means.

If you have little time left to play guitar you will have a most difficult time improving your playability with it. Unless you are a guitar genius, you'll have to devote hours with the guitar every day for years.

B7 would indicate a B Seventh Chord. To get a more comprehensive view on it I'd go to www.ultimate-guitar.com, they ought to have extensive tabs for SWA and a batch of other Skynyrd songs.

Get yourself a copy of "Rock Guitar Songs for Dummies" and you'll have it. It's great, it has an impressive list of sheet music, tab and lyrics for 35 rock songs, INCLUDING, yes, Sweet Home Alabama.
