I need specific examples with sizes of food.
I'm very confused about this whole idea
and I would like to know more about healthy eating.
Any tips you use to maintain your health are welcome!

Eating in moderation just means to not overeat. When you go to restaurants, they are usually serving 3x the portion size. One thing I do to keep from eating too much is to follow the serving size label on food. I eat pasta daily, but I don't gain weight because I exercise, and I measure how much to have. One serving of pasta can fill me up. Since I'm a small female, I require less than the standard 2200 calories per day. Eating about 6 small meals is better than eating 3 large ones.

Also, I do try to avoid dining out, because its always way too much food for me, and I don't like to feel guilty for leaving food on the plate. AND, its generally recommended to have a larger breakfast to fuel up for the day, and take a lighter dinner. You don't want to fill up before going to bed, because the body will just store all those calories as fat.

eating in moderation means not eating too much of junk foods at one time. Don't stuff yourself. Don't eat an entire pizza in one meal. Eat one to two slices and stop. Don't eat an entire box of cookies or ice cream in one evening in front of the TV. Eat just a few cookies or 1 cup of ice cream. Don't drink 2 or more sugared soft drinks a day. Drink water. Things like that.
Healthy eating is eating from all five of the food groups. 1. protein such as meat and chicken and seafood, 2. vegetables and fruit, 3. whole wheat bread or grains, 4. oil and 5. dairy products. Abstain from fried foods, potato chips, sweets, candy, soft drinks. You can learn to eat healthier. It just takes discipline.

Screw portion sizes, counting sizes will make you miserable. Moderation is eating till you are full but not feeling sick from overeating & the type of food you eat. just learn to have a variety on your plate, some meat, spuds, a few different coloured veggies, pasta, fish, whatever isnt deep fried or laced with sugar.

Ok...say you usaully eat...a whole plate full and a half of dinner at night.

Eating in moderation would mean...eating only half or 3/4 of what you would normally eat and slowly cutting back from there on. But not cutting back a ridiculus amount.

in health class, my teacher shared a great site to us during the nutrition unit: mypyramid.gov. Its an interactive site designed to help you find the correct portions, serving sizes, and a ton of other information. You can chose to enter in your age, gender, and weight to get really detailed report of exactly how many servings you need, examples of what a serving size is, how many calories you personally need in a day, etc. its a really great site and its helped me a lot!

stop measuring, weighting and counting your food! geeez. listen to YOUR body, eat when you are hungry (NOT when you are bored, sad, exited, etc..) and STOP when you feel FULL, by full i mean satisfied and energized nottt bloated and to the point where you can't get up. onnnlllyy feed your body the healthy stufffffff, good luck xoxoxxx

Very easy: your mean should be the same size as your fist. That's eating in moderation.
