Alton Brown is the best in my book because he explains the science behind ingredients and how they interact, and everything he has ever taught me has worked out great (esp. omelets:). Plus he is funny and entertaining.

I love Alton Brown and Duff from Ace of Cakes but if I could pick one to spend the day cooking with it would be Paula Deen. She is so "down home" and reminds me of my Aunt Reitha. As I type this I am watching Dinner Impossible - he's pretty fun too!
By the way, does anyone else think that Sandra from semi-homemade is a lush?!?!? She surely LOVES her cocktails - no?!?!

I like Sarah on Everyday Food, Brigitte on America's Test Kitchen, Daisy from Daisy Cooks, and all the cooks from the Scandinavian Show - the two guys from Denmark, Norway and the girl from Sweden. I like Jacques Pepin and a couple of others who I can't remember. The Frugal Gourmet was also pretty interesting. I met him in a grocery store in LA one time.
Cook shows are so much fun.

Racheal Ray is my favorite. Her recipes are ones I can duplicate easily and are practical for everyday cooking.
Paula Dean reminds me of my mother and grandmother and cooks more of the "down home " comfort foods I grew up on, so I like her too.
Semi-Homemade is another show I enjoy. I'm not crazy about the host, Sandra (?), but have gotten some really neat ideas from watching.

It's a toss up really. There's Paula Deen because she's funny and seems like everyone's grandmother. Tyler Florence just because. Mario Batali because I get a geography and cooking lesson in one. He makes cooking look like so much fun. Nigella because I like to watch cooking from foreign countries.
