For example, when someone doesn't understand something that's written in their bible, a contradiction or such?

Because in fact, the Christians hold themselves so hight that they even feel they are God.

They look down on non-believers thinking they are God.

I don't think that Christians are offended so much as they are embarrassed when you ask such questions. You see, Christianity is brilliant when viewed idealistically from afar. Its ideas and central themes - A loving god, jesus dying for our sins - are such that so many people profoundly want to believe in it that they actually do.

What you do by asking about details such as the one you alluded to is remind them of the 'nitty gritty' details and inconsistencies that arise from the bible. These things are much more comfortable when they are swept under the rug, so people can get on with loving their existentially challenged God.

No problem there.
People typically get offended by gross factual errors and personal attacks.

Example:

Not Offensive: "Why does Luke say that the disciples remained in Jerusalem after the crucifixion, but the other Gospels say that they returned to Galilee?"

Offensive: "There are contradictions in Scripture. Anyone who believes in the Bible is an uneducated moron."

Gross Factual Error: "Why did the Christians kill all those good Wiccans back in the Middle Ages?"

Some questions are offensive.
Some times people know the answer, but lack the way to answer.
Sometimes the question has been repeated so often, it gets tiring.
Some people are impatient, or they really do not know.
Not all of us get offended. And I think there may be many different reasons why someone might.

Why don't people ask the same types of questions about others religions? Could it be that they might be perceived as attacking that religion.

Maybe it's because you come at them in attack formation?
Try asking question openingly. You know as if you were really seeking the truth and not trying to start a fight.

many christians feel that what they say is contradictory or some are even unsure if they dont have the *word* behind their answers. so they dont necessarily get offended its more like caution as to watch what you say so that you dont mislead your questioner
