I am planning to make this cheesecake to take to my fiance's house for Thanksgiving next week: http://www.kraftfoods.com/main.aspx?s=recipe&m=recipe/knet_recipe_display&u1=keyword&u2=ribbon%20cheesecake&u3=**1*1&wf=9&recipe_id=98313#tips.

Since it says to use a 13x9 pan I figured on putting parchment paper or foil underneath the cheesecake so that I can lift it out of the pan. However, how do I then get the paper out from under the bottom of the cheesecake? Just very carefully? :-)

Also, if I were to buy a springform pan to use instead, do you think that the recipe would be too big for a standard springform? The recipe says that this dessert is 'party-size.'

I've never made a cheesecake before, but I'm not a novice baker, so any advice is appreciated. Thanks!!!!

To answer a few of the responses:

I've been looking for a rectangular springform pan, but I can't find any that are 13x9. Any tips on where I can find one?

Also, for Daisy, I had indicated that I would be using parchment paper or foil so that I could lift the cake out of the pan, so all that margarine won't be necessary. :-)

If you use a springform pan, use 2 of them for that size recipe, OR divide recipe in half.

Once the cheesecake has cooled AND chilled, you will be able to gently peel the paper back under the cake to get it off OR use a BIG spatula or flat edge to slide the cake off hte paper, onto a serving dish.

If you make it 9"x13", find a serving platter FIRST. Or else you'll just be serving it out of the 9x13 dish!

You can use a 12" diameter spring form pan for your cheesecake to fit in. It just happens that a recipe calling for a 9 X 13 pan will also fit in a 12" diameter pan just fine. I convert many home oven recipes this way that I cook in my Camp Dutch ovens. If it fits the 9 x 13 it fits the 12" Dutch oven so the same would be for a 12" spring form pan.

if you use the pan you could flip it over on to a plate or something and take the paper off and flip it over again...but that could get complicated with such a large cake. they do make 13x9 rectangle springform pans. so if you could find one of those it would work really well.
