I would ask him to show you since he seems to know where it is. I have been doing Bible study for over 22 years and this does not sound familiar.

He may be referring to the story Jesus told of the rich man who died and woke up in Hell. The man had a conversation with Abraham, where he offers to go back to the land of the living and warn his brothers, but Abraham says if they don't believe Torah (Moses), they won't believe a resurrected person. See Luke chapter 16.

Edit:

The difficulty with the idea this is just a story Jesus told to make a point is that the story's point is about how people will refuse to believe warnings concerning the terribleness of Hell, no matter how credible the witness. So if Hell isn't real, the "parable" has no teaching point.

It is not in the Bible where someone went to hell and wrote. The closest is the rich man in Luke 16:19-31 who went to torment in Hades which is the holding place until Hell. Even the rich man didn't write about it though.

Jesus used many parables in teaching his followers. "The parable of the rich man & Lazarus", was one of them. Both the rich man, & Lazarus, depict a class of people in very different cirumstances. (Lu 16:19-31)

Notice what the Bible clearly states about those who have died:

"His spirit goes out, he goes back to his ground;
In that day his thoughts do perish." --Psalm 146:4

"...There is no work, nor devising, nor knowledge, nor wisdom, in She′ol, the place to which you are going." --Ecclesiastes 9:10

The Bible does not contradict itself, so this must be an illustration, rather than something that actually happened as described.

At Luke 16:22-26, the language throughout the account is plainly parabolic & can't reasonably be explained literally, in view of all the preceding texts. Note, also, that “the rich man” is spoken of as being “buried” in Hades, which gives evidence that 'Hades' means the common grave of mankind, not any hellfire or torment.

In the illustration Lazarus was an ulcerous beggar, who was put at the rich man's gate, desiring to be fed with the foods falling from the rich man’s well-spread table. Lazarus died & was carried off to the bosom position of Abraham (a place comparable to that occupied by a person in ancient times, reclining in front of another on the same couch at mealtime). Abraham spoke with the rich man, who had also died, was buried, & was in Hades, existing in torments. A great, uncrossable, chasm separated the rich man from Abraham & Lazarus. The rich man requested Abraham to send Lazarus to his brothers, to warn them, hoping to spare them a similar experience. This request was rejected because these had “Moses & the Prophets,” & had been unwilling to listen to them, so, “neither will they be persuaded if someone rises from the dead".

In this illustration, conduct, final rewards, & a reversal in spiritual status (or condition), of those that Lazarus & the rich man represented, seem to be indicated. The mention of the rich man's brothers having rejected Moses & the prophets clearly indicates that the meaning is much deeper than that of making a contrast of possessing riches with being in poverty.

I don't know if you are referring to the rich man and Lazarus that others have mentioned or not. There is also a movie (not in the Bible) called "Beyond and Back" made in the 1970s. it gives accounts of Near Death experiences. There is much about them on the web, but I would not necessarily put as much faith in their accounts as Scripture.

Sorry it's not there. No one has ever been to hell and back to tell about it. There is a passage that talks about the rich man and lazurus tho, this might be what they are referring to. Luk 16:19-31 Hope it helps

No, I've heard the story and it is not in the Bible. The closest relating verse would be the story told by Jesus about the rich man and Lazarus.

No, that's not in there.
Your youth pastor is thinking about the parable of the Rich Man and Lazarus.

Lazarus maybe?

Edit: the parable of the rich man and the beggar I mean, not the guy Jesus brought back from the dead.

You must be talking about the parable that Jesus told about Lazerus and the rich man. Lazerus set outside the rich mans gate begging. The rich man ignored Lazerus. they both died Lazerus went to heaven and the rich man went to hell.
The rich man saw Lazerus sitting next to Abraham and asked Abraham to allow Lazerus to dip his finger into water and cool his tongue.
