I have go through the steps of doing a speech for a home school coarse and the topic I chose was the internet and children today. I wanted to know everyone’s opinion on the effects the internet has on your kid(s). Positives or negatives. I want to know both please!

i would like to point out the positives of letting children on the internet.
it is important that children get exposure of the internet because it is becoming such a vital part of our modern life. EVERYTHING is done on the internet now....communication...paying bills...applying for jobs....even taking college courses!
at the same time....if you take a proactive approach to teaching your children about the internet then you can make them aware of the dangers. IE pedophiles, identity theft, ect.

Well, kids can become lathargic if they are allowed on all the time, certainly chat rooms are dangerous and could lead to a pedophil talking and getting them to meet up with them. and with things like Utube and myspace kids can be exposed to porn or viloence.
My daughter is 5, she is allowed to either watch tv or play on the computer for only 1/2 hour a day and we have Icons set up on the computer for certain websites she is allowed to go to, like Webkinz, or Barbie, Disney. That way we know where she is going and she knows to only go to these sites.

Porn, pedophiles, chat rooms, harassment, kids depend too much on the Internet to do their homework instead of looking things up at the library the old fashioned way. People are so used to computers getting info "Right now", and microwaves cooking things in minutes that people hate to wait for anything.

Computers can take of a child life, such as extensive time playing World of Warcraft, they can spend too much time looking at porn, they can run into pedophile porn, which is illegal, they can end up meeting the wrong person, the computer can temporarily ruin a child's life until they get out of it's magnetic vortex. definite!! there is lots violence in cartoons those days that that's unreal. Cartoons are being maximum of peoples babysitter and the dad and mom do no longer even pay interest to the reality that cartoons are coaching our little ones lots undesirable stuff and that they even are discovering approximately intercourse from those cartoons.

well, one of my friends told me that the reason why he blinks very often and in a very wierd manner is because he watches too much tv and is on the computer too much. also, as a teen, i needed glasses because of how much time i spent on the computer. it can affect eyesight badly.
