Are There Calories In Vodka

Calories are units of energy. (Not all energy is expressed as calories, but all calories are energy.) That's pretty much it. If a food provides energy, it will have calories. There are sources of energy other than fat and protein. Also, consider the sources. Most hard liquors come from grains and are full of carbohydrate calories. When they are distilled, everything else is taken out (protein, fat, fiber, etc). Distilling something is purifying it. Got me? So don't try to drink the bottom of your food pyramid.

umm... well i know vodka for one is made from potatoes traditionaly, potatos have cabohydrates which = calories. The darker spirits have more calories than the clear ones, but basicly anything that is not water (so a drink that has had something ADDED) has some ammount of calories.

Sugar that is produced when consumed = calories. Just because it's clear doesn't mean it doesn't have calories.

Alcohol is pure carbohydrate (C2H6O - ethanol), and carbohydrates = calories. There's absolutely NOTHING else in vodka or Everclear, and precious little else in other alcoholic beverages. People don't get beer bellies from sugar; they get them from the ALCOHOL!!!
